Chapter 11

1020 Words
It took me a minute to realize that blood was mine. My eyes flickered to the area where I was shot, the bright red colour seeped into the water came from my upper arm, I could feel the bullet tearing through my skin. It was a moment of mesmerizing surrender. My eyes drooped as the water lifted its imaginary hands and dipped me under its cocoon. The definition of life came unexpectedly. One time, you felt that everything would be okay and the next time, you felt drained and out of it. It was a never-ending game of life and death. Flashbacks of my life ran through my eyes like a racy slideshow from the moment where I was held in my mother's arms as my eyes opened to life for the first time to my first kiss with Levy, to the burger joint that had me and my dad laughing at our stories, skipping to my hand in Levy's hand and ending to Levy's last smile before we went into the pool hand in hand. I closed my eyes, ending my hazy torment to the last final touch of Levy's arms. The monitor beeped beside me the moment my eyes painfully opened due to the fluorescent lights above. I thought I died, but as my fingers moved, I felt alive with a dire need of redemption. I was feeling sick of being the victim of their vicious games, the rush of anger the moment I woke up fueled my energy up to a maximum. The soft sound of the door that closed made my eyes avert from my hand to a tired Levy. His eyes were dimmed with redness and he looked like death; his face became pale and his eyes had gigantic dark bags under them indicating that he cried. "I'm so sorry." was the first thing Levy said to me as his dried lips trembled and his eyes teared up with raw emotion, "I thought I never made it in time to save you. I'm so sorry I had to make you go through this pain," his voice was hoarse as he remained standing in front of the bed. "Come here," I croaked as my hand was held out for him, he approached me with uneasiness, guilt imprinted on his face as his eyes refused to meet mine. "We will get them back, I promise, don't take the blame on yourself, it was not your fault they appeared and shot me," I explained with a heavy cast on my arm. "But they warned me multiple times, and they meant it when they said they would shoot you because I lied to them about you." he objected with disdain in his voice. He was really on the guilt train, my hand tightened around his. "What happened to them?" the question that made me anxious was spoken out loud, echoing on the walls. "It wasn't them who shot you, they aren't dumb," he sighed after he replied. "They sent a shooter to hunt you down and shoot you." He said, taking a hand through his hair in irritation. My blood ran cold at the fact that these two men were relentless, they went to the extreme to watch me get hurt, I was their target now. "Baby, we will get through this," I comforted him as he pressed a kiss on the back of my hand. "Where am I?" I scanned the room and validated that this was not a hospital, it just had a serum stand and a bed, making the blue walls contrast perfectly. "In the hotel's medical room, we are moving out of here to another hotel." He decided with anger written on his face. I could tell the remainder of his guilt turned into destruction from the way his eyes narrowed to the way his jaw ticked and his other hand in a clenched fist. "Why?" I questioned. "I mean, we could still implement that plan we plotted against them." I contemplated the severity of the situation we were in, partially handled by his father. "They know about our plan, so we have to figure something out," he spoke, "don't you think about the fact that they shot you in the arm as a warning? because gang men don't shoot at the arms, they mostly aim at the heart and brain, these fuckers aimed at your arm to warn me." He seethed as his mind went back to these men. "We could still tackle them," I recovered from the shooting pain on my left arm when I adjusted my seating position and winced, trying to hide it from Levy, the last thing I wanted to do was intensify his anger. Unfortunately, he saw it and he clenched his jaw even more as his hand tightened around me. "Levy, look, I'm alive and we are going to get our revenge." I declared and his face contorted to his usual smirk. "I never thought I could see my girl so much like me," he murmured and gave my lips a peck before saying, "you're becoming stronger." He commented with a wink. "Yeah, well," I smiled when I said, "I'm dating the killer," I retorted as we both laughed. "What time is it?" I clutched my head as a headache increased. Levy got worried even more and sat beside me on the big bed. "It's seven in the morning, you were out for a whole day," he regretfully responded, "the police caught the guy and they told me that he was determined not to answer any interrogation so they locked him up," He informed me. "The good news is that my dad will be arriving after two hours and he will help us since he knows this gang." He continued. That was a good sign, Mr. Clay Martin never came to these deals unless he was serious about destroying a gang. I knew that from the times I overheard him when I used to come over to Levy's house, I would always hear him decline one deal after another once. I was glad his dad was coming.
