-Emma Three days until the exam. I have been studying for two months for this exam and it feels like I am forgetting everything already. It's so stressful it is making me nervous and hungry. Like I am on my period every day. I look out of my window and look at the clear blue sky, wishing I could go out and fly a kite, just like when I was a kid. The good old days. I never worried about exams or having a fight with my mother, for not washing the dishes, or having a fight with my dad, while I tried to learn how to drive. I unconsciously smile and look back at my book. I am reading the book "Behavioral Psychology" by Richard Campbell. It's helpful. Has some great insights about how to read and interpret body language, how to detect lies, etc. I was about to turn the page when my phone rang. I put the book down and picked up my phone. Claire is calling me. I haven't talked to her in a couple of weeks. I answered the phone and talked to her, "Claire? Hey, I am so glad you called." "Guess where I am right now," she said in her squeaky voice and giggled. She is up to something. "Uhm, okay. I have literally no idea!" I said. "Look out your window," she said and it hit me. She drove all the way from Delaware? I stood from my bed and ran to the window. There she was, along with Deborah, who was holding a beer in her hand. "Surprise," she whispered through the phone and I started squealing and jumping. I put my slippers on, took my keys, and ran downstairs. Thank God I live on the second floor or I should have taken the elevator. Since it's february, it is cold outside and I don't have a jacket on, so I may freeze, but right now all I want to do is hug them and talk all night long. As I finally get out, they run straight to me and I towards them. I have missed them so much. "You are really here," I squealed and hugged them both at once. It felt so good to finally see them again. "I have missed you so much," Deborah pouted and stroke my hair. "Come inside, before we freeze out here," I said and we all rushed inside. I opened the door to my room and they came inside. "Cannot believe you have this apartment all to yourself," Claire said in admiration. "It's nice, but I get pretty bored." "Well, not tonight, because we are going out," Claire grinned, showing her perfect white teeth. "That sounds good. We could go to the African Restaurant nearby. The food is delicious." "Okay, but . . . that's not what I am saying. We should go party tonight." "Yes, Emma. Come on. We haven't seen each other in months. Let's go out and celebrate. Oh by the way, congratulations on your new internship. Your mom told me," Deborah said and the tension was 'on'. "You have talked to my mother?" I asked her and she seemed to have regretted, telling me about it. "I saw her at the supermarket and we caught on, you know. Come on, don't be upset." "You know I am not upset at you, Debbie." "I know. I just couldn't pass by and not say hello to her. It would be rude. And by the way, I pretended I didn't know a thing." "It's okay." "Have you spoken to her?" Claire asked and set down on the bed, looking sad. "She has called, and left me messages, but I haven't called her back, or responded to her," even though I regret it, that I haven't called her. She is my mother after all. "You should hear her out, Ems. You listened to one side of the story," Deborah pointed out and it made me even sadder and angrier. "I don't want to talk about this any more," I said and set on my chair. "I am sorry, Ems. I didn't want to upset you." "It doesn't matter . . . Uhm, what do you say we go out and explore a little bit around here? Then we could eat something, and later we go party?" "Sounds good to me." "Yeah me too." "Great, what are you guys wearing tonight?" "I brought my lucky dress," Claire said and showed us her middle fingers. "Horny b***h," I said in a bitchy-playful voice and we started laughing. "Hoping I get laid," she winked and took out her tongue, just like Miley Cyrus. We started talking about High School and all the memories we made at that place. I have missed this. Talking for hours about boys and Missy Jenson, the popular girl, everyone hated, but the boys. Claire once punched her in the face, because she found out, Missy grabbed Tyler's balls, at a football match, in front of everyone. Of course Tyler liked it, and didn't do anything against it. Well, he actually did something, but not against it. They did it in the boys locker room. Debbie's cousin Henry, caught them and they had a big fight. It was the worst. Claire cried for a whole month, because of that asshole. After that, she made out with Tyler's best friend, in front of him and Tyler was not happy about it. Well, like he could do anything about it. High School was the most dramatic, amazing and traumatic experience for Claire, Deborah and me. We kind of had a lot of problems back then, as if our lives were in synchronisation. We still talk about all those things, but just keep it at bay, not wanting to go down that road and unfold the unpleasant memories once again. "By the way, did you know that Missy got pregnant? Everyone at our "little town" knows about it. Oh, and the best part? She doesn't even know who the father is," Claire burst into laughter along with Deborah. I felt some kind of satisfaction, but also I knew that we were being judgemental. "It's none of our business girls, let's not talk about her anymore. We have a better thing to do." "And what is that?" Debbie asked and arched her brow. "Decide what to wear tonight," I singed and they responded with a very loud "Yeah." */*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/ A/N Hey guys, welcome to my new book.
