“Why take the river route?” I asked my mother who came to see me and lady Eli. She was still chained from top to bottom. We were leaving before dawn broke.
“It is the safest and fastest route there. Because of the wars, you can’t be sure about an ambush. Those chances decrease when you travel through water.” The boat we were to board was big enough for me to travel. A small wooden room (cabin) where lady Eli was hidden occupied half of the boat.
