Irene looked blankly at Zane and then at Calix’s name, that had become dull. She trudged to the map and checked it herself. Once. Twice. Thrice. She kept on checking the name. She even touched it, but it turned to fumes and when she removed her hand, it arranged itself into Calix’s name again. She gulped and frantically looked around for other names. “Ajax… Ajax… Ajax…” she murmured to herself, looking around the map of the Carol pack. Her finger skimmed around the map and stopped when she found Ajax’s name. He was surrounded by several names. Those were the names of his family, friends, and all were glowing. They were in the residential areas of the Carol pack and were safe because the devourers lurked only around the palace.
But she didn’t stop looking around. Next time
