CHAPTER FIVE: A PROMISING FUTURE

1112 Words
XAVIER'S P.O.V During my days in college, Abella was a nerd that I'd never thought would be this gorgeous in the present day, but what I felt for her. Nothing but disdain was still present. I can't really believe that I would have something again in life, to do with her. She fooled us all. Now I knew why Emily wanted to get rid of her, and it'd be the simplest thing for me to do because I would screw up light and darkness out of her. I had purposely exchanged rings with her despite knowing her real identity. She doesn't know the fire that'll burn her soon, and neither does she know Xavier Wolfsburg so well. I will make your life a living hell, Abella Anderson. Watch me”, I agreed in my mind. “We’re here, Sir.” James, the driver, announced when we got to my estate. “Get out of the car.” I ordered Abella as I alighted and she followed suit. Flashing her a smirk, I saw her roll her eyes. “Welcome home, sweet bride. How I wished you knew what you'd be getting yourself into”. I clicked my tongue. “Won’t you go in?” Abella glanced at me and back at the building in front of us. The porches surrounding it added to the exterior designs. Something I hated, but Dad made the maids do it. “Is this seriously happening? We're living in the same house?” she ran her mouth and a grit escaped my teeth. This damn lady. “So? Aren't we married?” I bought it. “Tsk. Married? That wasn't a marriage!” She retorted, and I smiled, moving closer to her. “Then, what is it called?” I whispered closely to her. She gasped silently, staring at me. There was a moment of silence between us before Abella spoke up. “This isn't a marriage, Xavier. Don't get ahead of yourself,” Abella smacked my chest and trudged in. Taking my lower lip in, I glanced at my chest. “Right. Don't get ahead of yourself,” With that being said, I sashayed in. *** “Dad, I…” “What’s the video of you in it that was sent to me, Xavier?” Dad half yelled from the receiver. I let out a soft sigh again. “Dad, that's…” “Don’t tell me that's nothing, Xavier! You got married today and recently, you've been sleeping out?! Is that how I raised you, uh?!” Dad yelled again from the phone. I ran my fingers into my hair. All this was just frustrating. I only know of one person who could do this to tarnish my name. Jethro. My ex-best friend. Jethro and I ruled college back then, but after some circumstances around us, we had a beef. Since then, he has been bent on making my life miserable. “Dad, it's not what you think…” I tried to say something.. “It’s not what I think? What do you think I'm thinking then?!” “Dad, you shouldn't believe someone who just sent you a video clip of me with another lady! What if it was edited? That couldn't be me!” I tried to justify myself. We've been on this for the past ten minutes and Dad was nowhere giving up. Jeez, was it so challenging to convince this man that I can rule the company myself? “Are you saying it's edited? Don't tell me that crap, Xavier! We clearly know your childhood days! You were a p*****t!” Dad screwed the f**k out of me with his words. It was pointless arguing with him anyway. I'll just ask Sophia and Richie to fix this for me. This doesn't have to go viral. Whoever had placed my face on that video won't go unscathed. “Dad, I'll fix this.” I reassured him. If I screwed this up, Dad would forget about the deal he had with me. I couldn't afford to lose that. “You better fix this up, Xavier! You better! Or else, you won't get a dime from my properties!” Dad barked and hung up angrily. Heaving a sigh of relief, I made a call through Richie. “Dude?” Moans from the other background* “Dude!” I called again. Moans followed suit. “Dude, don't tell me you're at it again!” “I’m sorry, man. I'm busy right now,” Richie responded and ended the call swiftly. What the hell! “Damnit!” I dialed Sophia's line. “Sophy.. I need your help.” Sophia responded, “With what?” “I think someone is trying to ruin me. He sent a fake video clip of me and a lady making out to Dad,” I explained, hoping she'd find answers to help me. “I can't help you with that,” Her next response stirred a disappointed look on my face. “Why?” I asked slowly. “Not until you tell me what the heck happened at the wedding! Why was it that useless cousin of Emily?! I need her out of the house!” My eyes shut and fluttered open again. “She isn't useless,” I mumbled. Only God knows why I sided with her for the first time. “Of course. You'll support her. What was I expecting when you both are now married?” Sophia reprimanded. “Sophy, Sophy hold…” “Well, Goodnight!” Angrily, she hung up as well. A grit surged through my teeth, my nerves flaying. “Damn that stupid girl.” Sophia was always hot-tempered, unlike I was. Ladies are bitches, aren't they? “Xavier…” A familiar voice from behind made me turn. I groaned out upon seeing it was Abella. “What do you want, woman?!” She almost flinched at my growl. Gosh, I hate this bride. Abella said nothing, stirring up anger in my bloodstream. “You called me, and now you're silent?” Abella nibbled on her lips, contemplating what to say. Seeing she wasn't ready to open up, I made to leave. “I can actually help you resolve your problem with the video,” My ears perked up as I faced her. “Did I hear correctly? Can you help me fix this?” I asked unbelievably, and she gave me a curt nod. “But on one condition…” She said, I frowned. “What condition?”. “You’d help me get back my father's inheritance from those I called family,” “Inheritance?” I was shocked to hear this.
