I follow Chris outside, making my way through the crowd. Most of the people haven’t even realized what happened. By the time I get to the exit, I’ve lost Chris’ bright blond hair. Maria catches up with me but my mind is racing because James is here too.
“Hey, Hannah, “ she smiles, “We were going to the diner at 56th after this. Do you want to come, we could just… “
“I am sorry, Maria,” I tell her while frantically looking around, “I need to go. Catch up later okay?”
I don’t even wait for her to finish and storm out. The yard is full of people, most of them are from the party upstairs, smoking and drinking because they can’t do it inside. Everyone is also pretty wasted already.
