Candy’s words are followed by a heavy silence. It stretches between us and to be honest- I don’t know what we are supposed to ask either.
“Are you two still meeting, or…” Chris tries but she instantly responds with a “no”.
“He called me to meet me. “ Candy explains,” He said that our little plan wouldn't work. They already have humans. “
The way she said “humans” betrayed so much pain.
“That’s it?” James asks, “He didn’t say anything else?”
Candy pauses before she shakes her head.
“No. What else could’ve he said?”
“I don’t know, I am just wondering why is he helping us?” James asks, suspicious. “Because he did what he did by calling you. “
“I don’t know. “ she says, then rubs her forehead. “I don't want to know. Can we stop talking about him? “
“So now?” Chris asks.
