Oliver's pov
'Another one?' I huffed as my dad Alpha Vincent Benjamin. Lugged more paperwork onto my desk. 'You'll have to get used to it, son.' He said in his gruff voice patting me too hard on the back before walking out the office leaving me and my best friend and future Beta Robin Clark. 'Jeez, Don't we get a break?' Robin said to me
'We, should be at school with our friends and with the school now mixed with half of the school from the blood moon pack we have a higher chance of finding our mate.' I nodded back to him. Then our dads walk in 'hopeful aren't they' Robin's dad laughed. Looking over at my dad ' I know they will be lucky if they meet their mate when they are still 18' my dad laughed out. I rubbed my temples, praying silently. It's true we are hopeful but there is nothing wrong with that. And you would be hell bent on finding your mate when it's all your wolf in your head keeps going on about. 'You must have been going crazy looking for your mate?' I say to my dad he stops laughing and turns to me ' oh don't get me started, I was 26 going on 27 when I found your mum and she didn't make it easy for me. If only she was a werewolf as well it would have been so much faster and easier, but no the moon goddess had to give me a demon.' Saying the last part in a mock tone. A smile played on my lips. Once they had left me and Robin alone in the office the phone rang. ' Hello, Alpha Oliver Benjamin speaking.'
' Oliver, it's Peter Foster. Just a reminder that some of my pack members will be coming over to your land.'
'Yes i know, thank you. Any luck?'
'No and I don't think it will be anytime soon as my Dad has me locked up in the office.'
'You too? Is he calling it training, even though we have since we were born?'
'Yeah. though Lawerence, my future Beta, will be going to your school. That lucky bastard.'
Putting the phone down my Dad mind links me saying "Oliver i've got the pack all set up in the hall, we are having a pack meeting. You and Robin both get your bums down here now!"
Entering the grand hall, with Robin by my side. We quickly climbed to the stage standing with our parents. I try my best not to look at the mass sea of eyes looking up to us for protection and guidance. ' Welcome today will be my son's first time guiding the pack meeting and he has some important news.' Dad's voice roared out of the crowd, getting a harmonised ' Alpha' back with a bow of the heads. Wait what I have to give the speech. Taking in a greedy gasp of air I try my best to walk with confidence, like my father does. Passing him to my walk at the front centre of the stage, he gives me a nod and a squeeze on my right shoulder. " You'll be fine son." He linked me. Nodding my head back at him, I step forward and take my first proper look at the intimidating crowd of eyes. ' hello, everyone i hope you are all doing well' looking to my left i see Robin giving me an encouraging thumbs up. ' it might have come to your attention of words going around talking about the burnt down school of the Blood Moon pack, and what is going to happen.' ' i am sure most of the students know that the blood moon pack's school has been split into two. With one half coming here. I advise you all to be on your best behaviour and for your knowledge not all the students are werewolves, there are a fair handful of humans.' ' Those of you who are eighteen should be excited as it's more of a chance that you will find your mate.' The younger part of the crowd erupted in cheers. Stretching a smile on my face. I nod my head 'thank you.' and step back. Dad coming forward brought me back up with his left arm wrapped around my shoulder. ' thank all you are now dismissed'
'Alpha' bowing heads leaving the hall.
'You did good son' He said, smiling down at me.
'Thanks Dad.' I say while me and Rodin head back to office work.
Hours later we heard the people coming back from school. 'Go on then! You can leave for today!' My Dad gruffed. Me and Robin jump up and run out the office heading our dads laughing. We went straight up the stairs to our game room. Once it started to get dark we went to bed. 'Baby can you go give this back to Ivy Thornton, please thank you.' Mum said sweetly, giving me a peck on the cheek. Handing me a sewing box.
Once in the main pack building I picked up a scent of freshly baked bread and goods. Cole, my wolf, perked fully up, all excited and full of energy.
After giving Ivy back her sewing box I ran downstairs, to the kitchen where Valerie Erickson stood.
'Oh! Oliver, you gave me a fright!'
'Sorry, have you been baking today?'
Her face scrunched up. 'Oh no I haven't, but I can make you something. What would you like?' She asked, putting her apron back on.
' no I don't want anything, sorry. It's fine. Bye.' I exited the house lifting my hand in a weak wave.
'Goodbye!'
'Son we need to go down to Mr Hastings business building!' Dad shouted through the mind link making me hold my head. 'No need to shout Dad.' I mind linked him back. 'Just hurry up Oliver.'
Outside the grey building, the orange flashing lights. Highlighting the dark night sky. 'What is it?' I asked one of my pack members who is a police officer.
' looks like a brake in Alpha. Mr Hastings has just been in and stated the things that have been taken.'
'Okay can you show me in?'
'Yes Alpha.'
In Mr Hastings office I get a stronger aroma of that scent. I smelled faintly in the pack house. The lovely smell of freshly baked bread. Feeling Cole wagging his tail.
Lying in bed awake, eyes glued to the dull ceiling. 'Aah!!' I scream while throwing my blinking red alarm clock. Anger consumed me. Looking into my smashed mirror I saw grey charcoal horns curled. Eyes fully pitch black and grey veins and skin. The skin along my hairline tips of my fingers going up to my wrist are awash with grey and with grey veins sprouting off them like tree roots. No one ever sees me like this only, my mum, dad and Rodin. I am too tense, too stressed.
Breathing in and out slowly, I start to see the grey patches and veins fade away and my horns go back in. I decided to go for a run to farm me down fully, bringing Cole to the surface.
