Oliver’s pov
‘Not sure why she ran. Did she feel the connection? No she couldn’t have, she is human. Right?’
I throw my thoughts at Robin.
‘Well I guess we don't know for certain’ he replied scratching the back of his head.
‘Let's go home.’ I huff heading out the door, the very same door I saw my beautiful mate run out of.
Sitting in our office, silence hung on top of us.
‘So we have it down to that she could be a witch, fairy, angel, demon …. Or just human.’ I spoke , breaking the heavy silence, making Robin jump.
We have been in here hours now trying to figure it out, figure out what she is. So far we have gotten nowhere we just have been going around in circles. Driving me around the bend.
Slamming my hands on the desk sending paperwork flying and again making Robin jump out of his skin.
‘Right!’ ‘That's it, I am not staying here anymore.’
‘What? But …’
‘I am going for a run.’ not answering me back Robin just nodded his head and went back to doing the research on my behalf.
Feeling too tense I shift the second my feet are out the door, not making a plan for when I am coming back. I love going for runs in wolf form it's freeing and it helps me relieve of stress, unlike my demon side which just causes pain but i guess it would be more or just better if i could freely let that part of me out but from a young age i've always been taught to hide and conceal that part of me. Which in the long run is painful and a huge secret to hold, especially when I am meant to lead and look after my pack.
That they are meant to trust me and lay their lives down for me yet I am not being honest with them.. And that guilt weighs me down, one of the main reasons I am so hesitant to not take over the pack as not being truly honest means that you are not truly trustworthy and if someone finds out. Well I don't know what I'll do.
But I do know that my dad will be disappointed in me.
Letting Cole take over as for right now i don't want to be the one in control. Maybe I'll just let Cole have control all the time. No that's not the best idea but again not the worst.
Cole slowed down as the delicious and addicting scent of sweets and candy, all sugary sweet. “Mate!” he shouted before dashing off in the direction the smell was coming from.
As it got stronger I started to hear the sound of a waterfall. Beating through the shrubbery to the waterfall I am greeted to see my mate curled up on the ground near the water's edge.
Tilling my head to the side. “What is mate doing here?” Cole asked, “I don't know.”
Carefully and softly walking over to Bea in hopes not to wake her. Soon I accidentally brushed against her, waking her up.
Staring into her eyes which were red and puffy making me frown.
Not noticing her hand outstretched and she started to pet me, making Cole happy and wagging his tail. Also leading him to lick Bea on her right cheek. “Cole!”
Not listening to me, he continued to watch her with his tail wagging. “Cole , this is so degrading.” “but mate likes it.” rolling my eyes I looked back at Bea seeing a playful smile on her lips. Sitting here in front of Bea wagging my tail like a dumb dog and now hanging my tongue out my mouth. “Cole!”
She soon looked up noticing the night sky above, her face growing with worry and concern. Grabbing her attention trying to make Bea smile again I touch her hand with my snout making her look at me again. But her eyes grew wide and she retracted her hand which she was petting my fur with. Making my skin grow cold.
Tilting my head to the side, I looked at her. ‘Well go on then’ she said, making me confused.
She looked away from me. ‘Aren’t you going to go?’ ‘no?’
“What?” both me and Cole said in unison.
‘Well I need to go back home, bye.’
Sensing that she wanted me to go and to be alone I swiftly started to head back home as well.
Once home. ‘Son where have you been?’
‘Oh just on a run, why?’
‘Nothing but you should tell someone before you go out.’
‘I did, I told Robin.’
‘I mean an adult.’
‘Robin is an adult, so am I.’
Sighing and flinging his arms up in the air dad grasped my shoulder in his heavy thorough hand and dragged me to the dining room and plonked me in my seat.
Just as food got served the patrol bomb barded the mind link telling us that someone was breaking into the school.
Both me and my dad shut up.
‘I'll take this one dad.’ I say looking at him.
All I got back was a grunt, you can just feel the love.
Walking through the back door fire exit of the school at the gymnazium i caught the scent again “mate!” Cole shouted “what is mate doing at school so late? Doesn't she know it's dangerous?”
Seeing the back of her in the girls changing rooms ‘Bea’ i say getting closer to her my hand desiring to hold hers making theme brush together.
‘Bea, please … Bea look at me please …’ my voice broke.
Seeing her head shake I called out one more time, this time taking her hand in mine. ‘Bea. Are you okay? Why are you at school?’
Turning around she faced me. ‘I needed to get my things,’ she says while holding her bag over her shoulder.
‘Oh okay well we should probably leave now.’ I say walking away with our hands still holding as I lead her out to the exit of the school.
‘Why are you here? At school?’
Caught off guard ‘ umm late night homework due.’
‘Oh’ was all she said back, oh god she doesn't believe me.
Outside my mind link gets attacked by my dad “son there are tresspasses on the west side of the border, meet us there.”
‘I am going to have to go, do you think you can make your way home fine?’
‘Yeah ill been fine.’ and she walked off into the night.
Shifting into Cole as we race to the fight. Already town dead on the ground th jump and sink my teeth into the neck of the one attacking Robin. Both of us took the people down. To then I was just one left. Shifting back to human form I grab him by the neck and slam him against the tree trunk. ‘Why are you here?’
All he did was smile. Raising my fist to hit him in the face he spoke. ‘Hello Mr Alpha, we heard you found your mate.’
With that i throw him to one of the warriors. ‘Lock him up’ before meeting Robin once we had both put shorts
‘Robin it was a distraction’
‘What ?’
Repeating the words, the man spoke,in my head. My mind went blank as my only thought was
…
‘Bea!’
