“Fine,” Eira said with a heavy sigh. She shifted into her wolf form, and I crouched down. Her white shoulders tensed as I slipped the fabric over her eyes and tied it as tightly as I could without hurting her. My fingers brushed the thick fur at the nape of her neck, and I had to physically resist the urge to dig my fingers in and pet her. The strong, inexplicable pull dragged me toward her once again, and the never-ending hunger for death was sated whenever she was around, fading into nothing.
