When Emilia woke up, her head throbbed, and she sat up, only to be startled by the scene before her. In front of her lay rows of luxurious handbags, while the floor was covered in an endless sea of clothes and dresses. It felt as though she was lying in a bed surrounded by a mountain of clothing, with hardly any space to move. Am I not dead? Emilia stared blankly at the ceiling, recalling the desperate moments just before she was hit by a car and could hardly breathe. Yes, she had definitely died. That much was certain. But the sight before her couldn't be denied. So, was this what they meant by "crossing over"? Speaking of crossing over, the scene in front of Emilia seemed oddly familiar. Where had she seen this kind of abundance of bags and clothing before? As she pondered, Emilia suddenly widened her eyes and sat up on the bed again. That novel! Two days before her death, Emilia had read a novel titled "Deep Affection and Devotion." In that book, there was a minor character with the same name as hers. That's why she remembered it so vividly. This character was the wife of the novel's antagonist, a brainless and spendthrift woman who only knew how to squander money. Her existence was meaningless, serving as a stain on the antagonist's otherwise perfect life. The novel's ending mentioned that the antagonist had been defeated by the male lead, and the final image was of the minor character lying in a recently rented room, surrounded by the bags and clothes she had purchased in the past. It was the only thing the antagonist had left. Emilia remembered the lines: "Maximilian's only possessions were the woman lying in that bedroom and the expensive bags and clothes. But Maximilian himself knew that this woman, who had never cared for anything other than money, would soon leave him with her bags and clothes. He had failed, and he would be left with nothing." So, had she crossed over into the world of the novel after it was completed? Emilia looked around, her eyes aching from the overwhelming colors, but if you translated it into money, it was undoubtedly a substantial amount. Thanks to her past behavior of indulgence, these items remained. If she had bought houses or cars, they would have been seized by now. Rubbing her temples, Emilia thought of Maximilian, the bankrupt antagonist. His character, family background, and even his abilities were far from impressive. He was just unlucky because he competed with the male lead in business, and with the help of the female lead, they had thwarted his various plans, eventually leading to his bankruptcy. He was quite an unfortunate fellow. The reason Emilia had married Maximilian was purely because her grandfather had saved Maximilian's grandfather. In gratitude, he had married Emilia, who had become an orphan during her college years. Emilia was beautiful but only cared about money. After marrying Maximilian, she had no intentions of being a proper wife. Every month, she only received money from Maximilian to indulge in her shopping sprees. They maintained a distant relationship, but now that she had crossed over, she didn't need to worry about exposing her true self, and she didn't have to fear that "Maximilian would trouble her." Seeing the bags and clothes around her, Emilia sighed once again. This was probably the most luxurious collection of goods she had ever seen in her life, but she had no interest in these things. Moreover, these were Maximilian's belongings, and the money he had given was meant to take care of his wife. She was no longer the old Emilia, and she couldn't just walk away with what little wealth he had left during Maximilian's downfall, especially since she had no family of her own. She had just arrived here, and there was nowhere else to go.
