Chapter 126

1086 Words

Ethan's POV I pulled into the parking lot of La Maison, a cozy French bistro I'd discovered last week. The brick exterior and warm lighting promised an intimate atmosphere—perfect for a first date—or whatever this was. "French?" Hannah raised an eyebrow as we walked to the entrance. "Fancy." "Too much?" "No, it's nice. Just..." She bit her lip. "Don't go overboard with ordering, okay? I'm not that hungry." "Let me guess - you had a late lunch?" "More like an early dinner." She looked sheepish. "Sophie stress-baked cookies. A lot of cookies. And then we had to test them. For quality control." I held the door open for her. "How many cookies are we talking about?" "Enough that I might explode if I eat another bite." She patted her stomach. "But the chocolate chip ones were worth it."
