I felt my stomach drop. Jess's eyes sparkled with mischief, and I knew exactly where this was heading.
"Oh, just a tiny little wager," Jess said, examining her nails with exaggerated casualness. "Your boyfriend here won it, and the rest of us poor souls lost."
I coughed loudly, trying to cut her off. "Maybe we should-"
"Actually," Jess continued, completely ignoring my attempts to silence her, "it's quite a funny story-"
"Jess," I warned.
"What?" She blinked innocently. "I'm sure Stella would love to hear about how you-"
I lunged across the coffee table, scattering Jenga blocks everywhere, and clapped a hand over her mouth. "Don't you dare."
