School's quite buzzing with students.The winks,the giggles?I get that a lot.Walking forward,I sight a girl scoffing at me.Really?I chuckle inwardly.Hold on, she's the same girl from the bus yesterday, interesting.
I walk to my dorm room where my guys are waiting:Lucas,Topher and Dylan.There's a girl on Lucas' legs, he's kissing her like f**k.

"What's cooking?I winked at mom who's staring at me with beads of sweat on her forehead.She folds and unfolds her face like she was battling something within before getting up to hug me
"Mom are you okay?"I ask with concern
"Yeah... yeah I am.How was school today baby?"she asks
"It was fun and for the first time in my life I'm starting to feel like I belong somewhere"I smiled happily

"Go change up and get ready for dinner "

I glide the stairs hurrying to my room.Life with a single parent isn't all that fun but I'm grateful I get to spend an eternity with my mom,I wanna make her proud.I walk into the bathroom, peeling my clothes off me.I get under the shower reminiscing about my life back in Canada.Everything used to be so perfect with mom,dad and my ex-boyfriend Carl.He was such a sweet guy,he still is.We had to break up when I relocated.
"Get the past behind you Nova, you're here in Cali and you have mom, that's all that matters"I reassured myself stepping out of the bathroom and into my room.I got a notification on my phone,a text from a real estate agent that a couple houses were available for renting.I wanted to move out, somewhere close to the school so I don't have to keep worrying about being late for classes.Changing into my pyjamas, I went downstairs for dinner.
