They rode up to the ranch house at about midnight. Steve took the horses while Anna and Ellen helped Lane into the house. Anna got his coat and shirt off and was gradually able to cut and soak the Gauze, and bandages off of his arm. It was seeping and swelled so badly that it looked as if it might bust wide open at any time.
Steve came in, looked at the arm, and turned, walking for the door.
"Where are you going?"
"To get the plane ready. Just clean the arm up as best you can and bring him to it."
