To say that Ven couldn't get me out of his mind was an understatement. When Iris told him that I was ill and needed some time to rest, he wanted to go and see me so that he could let me know that he would be by my side until I had recovered. However, hearing that the wedding would be postponed if I didn't recover in time made him obedient to his mother's words. The queen had him wrapped around her finger and the time had come for something life changing to take place. Iris had planned all along to create some trouble for me and Ven before the wedding date. She couldn't bear the thought of someone else being the queen, let alone a human. But Ven insisted on getting married and taking over the kingdom as the king as soon as possible. She couldn't change his mind on the matter and decided that if he really was to get married, he would have to marry a woman he approved of; be her from a royal family or not, she was content as long as she was a part of their species. "Ven... I've been thinking about something lately," Iris started, taking a step closer to her son so that she could take his hand in hers. Ven's thoughts had wondered off but feeling his mother's touch brought him back with a new curiosity. "... It's not too late to change your-" "No, I've told you this many times before," he interrupted her just as a horse driven carriage came into sight outside of the entrance, "... I'm marrying Odette and no one else." He finished off by turning his head towards the entrance to look at the carriage as it came to a halt. It wasn't an extravant carriage that was meant to carry those of royalty. In fact, it was quite small and pitch black, like the ones that would carry normal civilians to places. But only those from royal families were invited to stay at the castle. The wedding would be in a few days and they would be arriving from kingdoms of far away places to avoid the long journey on the day of the wedding. Iris' hand clung to his and her grip became firm as the driver of the carriage got down and moved to the door to open it for the person to exit the carriage. "Who could this be?" Ven said in a low tone. Iris heard him and a smile formed on her lips as a woman came into view, her dress being the first thing the both of them saw as she stepped out of the carriage. Iris waited patiently for her son's reaction, the woman she had been waiting for stepping out of the carriage to stand the snow with her stilettos. She had on a large hat that covered her face, however, Ven was able to recognized her from her shapely figure and exposed cleavage alone. His grip on Iris' hand tightened until he quickly released it and started to walk towards the entrance. The woman took off her hat and placed it in the carriage, smiling broadly as she saw the prince walk out of the palace to welcome her. "Ven! Darling! It's been so-" "What are you doing here, Fleur?" He asked in a soft tone that was also icy enough to bite. Fleur was taken aback by his tone but no so much as to be fazed by it. Iris followed behind Ven and stopped to stand beside him and I front of Fleur. The moment the woman saw the queen, she wasted no time with bowing forward, intentionally giving Ven a deep view of her cleavage. He was too disturbed and bothered to care about her seductive nature. "News has been circulating about the kingdom that you'll be married soon. I can't miss out on the chance to congratulation you and to witness the birth of a new king," she said, walking forward and reaching her hands out for Iris to take. Behaving in a fashion that was strange even to Ven, Iris displayed a motherly smile and took hold of Fleur's hands as though she were her own daughter. Correction, she never treated Mari that way, which was why Ven was quite surprised and frankly speaking, bothered by her actions. "Fleur Mel-Heulen, I've heard so much about you from the days when you were still with my son," Iris said with a sweet tone. The truth was that Ven had told Iris about Fleur before, but that was when he thought that she would be his future queen instead of me. Fleur hadn't met Iris before but their first meeting was going terribly well considering that she was her son's ex-girlfriend. "That doesn't matter right now. I'm certain that you weren't invited to the wedding," Vem said next, intentionally failing to coat his words with any semblance of kindness and sounding cold to Fleur instead. He had good reason to not want her around. She was a troublesome ex-girlfriend who had given him nothing but problems in the past, and he was engaged to someone else. Even if she claimed to have arrived for the wedding, he couldn't shake off the feeling that she had arrived to cause trouble for him and the future queen. "I invited her," Iris said, shocking Ven. "What do you mean? You two have never met before," he said, looking down at his mother with a frown. Iris simply smiled up at him. "That doesn't matter right now," she replied, using his own words against him, "... What matters is that I have heard nothing but good things about her. You were planning on proposing to her before, weren't you? I want to show off to our guests that you have an impeccable taste in women." She said, motioning for Fleur to follow her into the palace. Fleur bowed slightly once more and followed behind the queen, but not before glancing at Ven with a flirtatious eye. Ven heaved a sigh as he watched the two disappear into the palace.
