The morning after the attack felt unreal.

The healers moved from house to house, treating the injured. Warriors repaired the damaged gates. The smell of blood still lingered in the air.
And everywhere I walked, wolves stared.
Not because I had once been Ethan's mate.
Not because of Damien.
Not because of the scandal.
Now they looked at me because of fear.
Because the Shadow Alpha wanted me.
Because the enemy had crossed our borders for me.
Because the future of Mooncrest somehow rested on my shoulders.
I hated it.
I had never wanted power.
I had never wanted prophecy.
I had only wanted love.
