She sat on her messed up bed, laying face up, watching the ceiling with several thoughts running through her mind. After her previous day encounter with the devil, she refused to say a word to anyone, not even her best friend. That name brought back lots of memories she was trying to live pass. She was lost in her thoughts when a knock at her door distracted her from her line of thoughts. “Molly…” Quin’s voice called out to her from the other side of the door. When few minutes passed and she got no reply, she called out again “molly please say something, you’re starting to scare me”. Molly stood, clearing the heap of cloths on her path with her legs and packing her messy hair with a lose band. She made her way into the bathroom, clearing her already dried tears with the sleeve of her top. She took a deep breath as she starred at herself in the mirror, bitting her lips to stop the sound trying to escape her lips. She bent her head as memories crowded her head. When she couldn’t take it anymore, she sat on the floor of her bathroom as hot tears strolled down her cheeks. She held her chest as she found it hard to breath. She bit in her palms in a desperate attempt to stop the tears, “Please no, no!!” She kept murmuring to herself. She dragged on her hairs, looking for a pain greater than the one she felt deep inside her, looking for some form of distraction, distraction from her nightmares and the heartache she felt. “Molly!! Molly!!! Please say something “ Quin called out, her voice filled with fear, her body trembling from wild thoughts. She has never seen her best friend this broken before. How can an encounter with that strange man from last night stir up such a reaction from her? Did they know each other before? Have they crossed paths before? She could remember the look of recognition on molly’s face before that of shock and fear overtook them. Who was those men and why did molly stop them from making a report to the police? They were alot of unanswered questions she needed answers to but she had to wait first till molly was ready to talk. But at this point, she felt it will talk a really long time for her to open up. Should she call the police? Should she just sit still and wait patiently? Obviously that can’t be an option. She needed to call help. She pulled out her phone to call for help when suddenly, molly’s room pulled open. Molly stepped out looking more refreshed and her face clearer, although the bags under her eyes and her blood shot eyes still stood out, announcing their presence to all. “Molly…. You’re out” Molly only paid her a glance before walking pass her, down the stairs with some load of books on her hands. She went straight to their dining area and dropped her books on the table and made herself comfortable in one of the chairs. Quin sat next to her, eyeing her and trying to examine if she was indeed okay. When she couldn’t take the silence anymore, she finally asked, “Are you okay?” She turned and looked at her best friend and gave her one of her obvious fake smiles before replying her “I’m okay. Just needed some alone time”. Quin clearly didn’t believe her, even the look on her face showed just how bad she was feeling but she didn’t want to force her to say something. She didn’t know what the matter was but she was sure that anything that could break her best friend that way was a tough one. She sighed and made a silent prayer to God, hoping Molly was okay or will be okay. She gave molly a smile and asked “so.. what are you up to?” “Nothing much. Just trying to get this assignments done”. “Okay. Mr. Pop called..” she began and waited for a response from her but when none came, she continued “He said you emailed him your resignation letter”. Molly gave our a nod, confirming what she said. She starred at her, waiting for something more, something other than a nod and when none came, she called out her name “molly…” “Yes I did email my resignation letter and don’t worry, I’ll be out looking for a job my tomorrow”. “Tomorrow is Sunday. I doubt you’ll find any good offer out there tomorrow.” “A day after that then.” “Molly…” she called out again, trying to know what was up with her. “Look, I’ll find a job, okay? And we need to change our ice cream venue. As you can see, it isn’t the safest place on this planet and I doubt our house is either. We may need to relocate.” “Why?” She questioned, starting to get inpatient “Because it isn’t safe Quin. Trust me on this one!!” “You want me to trust you!?” “Yes!” “What about you start by telling me why you refuse and stopped me from calling the police yesterday after we were openly harassed!!!” She asked, her temper getting the best of her. “You said it yourself Quin!! We were openly harassed and man handled!! Do you think no one thought of calling the police or the security men on stand by didn’t notice!!? They did, they f*****g did!!” “What are you talking about!!” Molly shake her head as she starred at her naive best friend and held back the sob threatening to escape her mouth. She picked up her phone and wallet on the table and headed for the door. “Where are you going!!?” Quin yelled after her. “For a walk, alone”. She replied before shutting the door.
