Chapter 5

357 Words
“Hello Rebecca. Good to see you again.” “Good morning. Good to see you too.” “Are you here for a workout?” “Yes, I need to get rid of some frustrations.” I smile. “I knew it!” She grins. “The moment I saw the two of you, the way Jason was looking at you, I’ve never seen him look at anyone that way before.” “We haven’t even known each other for that long besides I’m still not entirely sure what exactly is going on with us.” I tell her. I smile at the kind woman. She gives me some pointers on the punching bag and I am getting the hang of it. It takes my mind off of Jason. After a while I take a break and check my phone, there is a text from Jason. *Good morning. Hope you slept well.* *I did. You?* *In a way. What are your plans for today?* *Actually I’m at the gym. Shirley has been helping me out with some moves.* *Good to know. I’ll be looking forward to our next session.* *Me too.* I work out for another good long while before I head home. I’m exhausted and pumped up at the same time. I decided to send Jason a text to check in. *How is your day going?* *Not that good.* *What happened?* I reply worried now. My phone rings. “I found out something really bad and I’m not sure how to deal with it.” Jason says sadly. “You can tell me.” “Are you sure?” “Yes, please tell me what is going on.” I suddenly feel worried. “I found out my daughter isn’t my daughter.” “What do you mean?” “They told me this morning. After all these years, I feel like a complete idiot.” “You can’t blame yourself. How were you supposed to know?” My heart is breaking. For ten years he thought he had a daughter only to find out she wasn’t his all along. “Still I should have suspected.” “It’s not your fault.” I try to reassure him. It’s not like he could have known. “It makes sense though, she never really got used to me and my ex did get married quickly after our divorce.” “I’m sorry this happened.” I mean it. He is such a good man. “At least I have you to talk to.” “Always.”
