Since morning, the teachers have been making the students understand the requirements of the subjects and its killing me. And unluckily for me, I haven’t made friends yet. All the girl students are talking about “The Campus Queen”. Most of it is who will win the title but for sure it would remain the same because her father is very influential and owns a large part of the academy. Well, people who have power in their hands can manipulate.
I looked at my watch, and darn, I still have a class after this one. If it would have been in New York, I would be hanging with my friends and first days are the most exciting part of the school year for us. There will be a lot of catching up that we will talk during orientations. Reminds me of how doomed I am right now.
“First days is quite boring, isn’t that right?” says a voice beside me. I didn’t look, but sure it was a girl.
“Not really, it’s just I’m not with the right people.” I replied, drowsily with a yawn.
“I see, Alquette by the way,” as she extends her hands. I turned my head to see the person, and look at the beauty, she’s gorgeous.
“Reyva,” I said shortly and took her hand for a shake.
“I haven’t seen your face before, you’re new here?” she asked.
“Yeah, am from New York.” Better be safe on what I say. The students have been talking about me since morning. If I am with my friends, they would say that my beauty shines that catches so much attention, but they were talking if how their ‘Campus Queen’ would react if she’ll know about me, the new student.
After a few minutes, the bell rang indicating that the class is done. Another one hour and I’ll be going home, I laughed sarcastically, only if I could. My home is at New York and not in this place. I shake off the idea of running away and just walked to my next class.
“Hey, let’s go together,” Alquette said. I didn’t know she was following me.
“Good idea, I might get lost finding that classroom,” I appreciated her offer. Well, I have the school map with me but the class may have already started when I found it. It’s a good thing though, escaping maybe 20 minutes of the class but I never did that before.
“Isn’t she the new student? Why is Princess Alquette with her?” I heard the female student said behind me.
“Yes, and she’s beautiful. I wonder how will The Queen take this,” The other girl said.
The Queen again, who is this? Huh, and the girl I’m walking with is a princess?
“So, you’re a princess?” I asked Alquette beside me.
“No, it’s just that this school selects a Campus Royalty and I’m one of the princesses.”
“I didn’t know the academy to believe in fairytales,”
“The sound makes me want to vomit,” she said. “The truth is our parents are just influential.”
When we arrived at the room, every student hustles to find a seat they like, and we choose to seat at the back, near the window where the view of the academy is widely seen.
“So, is your parent politician? Or businessman?” I asked and look beyond the window.
“My father is a businessman, he actually despises politicians, and it’s just too bad he’s stuck with them,” she answered. Politicians and there dirty tricks.
“Must be a pain in the ass,” I remarked.
“Exactly! But hey, why did you move here? I’m pretty sure New York is amazing, unlike this little town that’s full of greed,”
“My parents,” I replied. As my parent’s job is secret, I can’t just go around meet somebody and spoil their cover.
As the teacher started to discuss about the lessons we’ll be having for the semester, I heard a group of girls talking from the other row. They are trying to whisper, but I could hear it from my seat. And again, they are talking about me.
“Hey, who is that girl Princess Alquette is talking to?”
“Must be a new girl,”
“Why is Princess Alquette talking with a new student? If The Queen will see her, she’ll definitely be scolded.”
“Just don’t mind them, they really have nothing to do but gossip,” Alquette said.
“Hell, I’ve been hearing about it since morning and I’ve had enough. Just who the hell is The Queen. I know you know her, after all you are part of the fairytale.” I said bluntly
“The Queen, or Kristel as I prefer to call her, is the daughter of a politician who owns a large part of the academy,” she answered.
“I imagine she’s a brat, the same time a b***h,” Every school has them. There’s one who uses the influence of their family which really irritates me. They act as if they have bought everything in the world.
“Exactly, and I really hate hanging with them. As my father is unlucky to be stuck with politicians, I am too is stuck with them,”
“How unfortunate for you, then I guess I’ll be seeing you more with them,” she just nodded her head as an answer.
“So that will be our timeline during the semester. We’ll be discussing your final project once the Royalty is around. Since I have said all the things you should be expecting, I am dismissing you early.” The teacher said and the students bid there goodbye. Once the teacher is out of the door, the noise started. Every student is planning where to go. I heard there will be a party they will be attending.
“Would you want to go to the party?” Alquette asked.
“I hate parties. It’s just full of horny teenagers where I don’t belong.” Seriously, I don’t understand why teenagers love parties. They put so much effort to dress, wearing a very short skirt just to get drunk and they would wake up naked with a stranger next to them. What a waste.
“I like you. We obviously share the same characteristics.”
“It’s because I have my brain right to my head, those party animals seems to have theirs somewhere.” I scoffed.
“That’s a nice remark. But I’ll be heading home now. I have things to do.” She bid her goodbye and I did the same.
When I got home, my parents are not around. After preparing myself a dinner, I called my friends and talked with them. They asked how the academy is and I told them how my unfortunate day went. Lena said a boy at the school asked Ave to date which she turned down. I already knew she would. She never dated anybody after her ex-boyfriend broke up with her.
After talking with my friends, I retired for the night.
