CHAPTER 8

1552 Words
It was the last day for the week and I am sitting on the tree where I used to go. The cafeteria is full of gossips about me being the first person to ever dare the queen’s path. It was annoying. Everywhere I go, the students stare at me. “Hey Reyva! Are you comfortable up there?” Charise yelled at me from down the tree. She’s sitting beneath the branch where I sit. “Why don’t climb and try?” I chuckled while I look at her. She doesn’t want to climb and sit with me. She’s actually afraid of heights. “No thanks, just tell me how you feel up there!” “It’s so peaceful up here.” I answered to her and put my attention back to the book that I‘m reading. It was break time and since there was nothing to do in the classroom, I decided to come here. Every Friday, there is a long break time that students could enjoy. They can play sports, go to their club, enjoy the food at the cafeteria and anything as long as it is not going out of the academy. I was enjoying and immersed with the book I am reading when the bell rings nonstop. It rung for about 3 minutes and the students started to assemble at the ground. “What’s that about?” I yelled to Charise asking what it is about. “There is an announcement from the principal. We to go at the ground. Get down their fast!” Charise is ready to leave looking at me. “Okay.” I replied then put the book in my bag. I put the bag in my bag then stand up to jump down. The branch I am sitting a while ago was not too far from the ground so I can just jump down. When I am at the ground, Charise pulled my hands and started to run to the ground. It is not too far from the tree so we arrived shortly. “I think it is about the Homecomimg Ball,” Charise said. “What about that?” “Well, it is the time most girls really like. The title of the Campus Queen is going to be selected in that day.” “I thought those titles are just being used by the them?” I said referring to the Campus Royalty. “Well no. That title has a corresponding responsibility and the school is serious about it.” Charise explained. “Oh, okay.” I just said. I didn’t know that the royalty is being selected by the school. “But, every year, the students selected to be part of the Campus Royalty are those that is influential. So most of them are the daughters of the shareholders of the academy. But, there has been some lucky students selected to be part of the royalty. Only that she has to be a top on her class.” She continued. Just as what Alquette said when I talked to her. “Hello students. I am here to announce the upcoming Homecoming Ball on the 1st week of the next month.” A lady wearing eyeglasses said from the stage. I suppose she’s the principal. Beside her is another woman who wears an elegant dress. “I wonder why Kaitlyn Jones is with her.” I heard a student saying from my back. “Jones, who is she?” I asked Charise. I know she also heard the girls talking on our back. “She’s Kristel’s mother.” I was shocked upon hearing that. That woman on the stage is very elegant, not like a b***h like her daughter. From the stage, I saw Kaitlyn grab the microphone from the principal’s hands. “A pleasant day students. The Homecoming Ball today is very special. We would like to announce that there will be a special surprise during the ball. So ladies, find yourself a beautiful dress and be beautiful. And make sure to have your date. Because for the first time, there will be a crown for a king and knights!” Kaitlyn announced making the crowd full of whispers. After saying all that, Kaitlyn gave the microphone back to the principal. “Yes students. The academy is changing its rules for the first time!” The principal said and the murmurs went more. “As for the date of the Homecoming Ball, it will be posted on the notification board so watch out ladies and gentleman. That’s all and students are dismissed. You can go home early. Always remember, be as gentle as a gentleman and….” “An be as graceful as a lady.” Charise continued, saying it the same time as the principal. “She always say that. But wow, the academy is going against its tradition!” she said. “It has always been that the Campus Queen is the highest title a student can get in this academy. Signifying the dominance of girls.” She continued looking amazed. “So you mean, there really has never been a Campus King?” I asked. “Yes! Never!” she replied. “And I will be the first Campus King of the academy. So would you like to be my date at the ball?” I instantly get annoyed when I heard the assholes voice. It was my time to grab Charise’s hands and walk faster. I didn’t even looked at Tredon. It will surely make me even angrier. Aside from me crossing the queen, the other gossip about me is Tredon. That the girls in the academy is dying for Tredon to notice them and I am just treating him like this. Well, it wasn’t my fault that they were blinded by his handsome face. “Hey girl. He’s asking you to be his date at the ball!” Charise exclaimed to me while I pull her away from the asshole. “No!” I just furiously replied. When I reached a room where there are no students, I stopped walking. “Are you kidding me? Tredon Smith is truly in to you! Why don’t you give him a chance!” Charise shouted to me. “Yeah, why don’t you me give me a chance?” I was surprised to hear Tredon’s voice in the room. How did he follow us? I made sure he isn’t following us when he stopped. I motioned going for the closed door but his friends were blocking it. I have no choice but to talk to him and the thought of it infuriates me. “What do you want?” I asked as I cross my arms. “For you to be my date on the ball.” He sternly said. “Why me?” “Why, isn’t it obvious? You’re a very unique lady. Very different and it makes me drawn to you.” He seriously said while looking at my eyes. His voice were calm. “I’ll give you a chance but prove your worth first. Now let us go!” I said. And walked to the door but his friends are still blocking it. “What am I suppose to do?” He asked from my back. “Figure it out yourself. Now tell your friends to let us go.” I said looking at the boys covering my exit but they weren’t moving. Alright, they are giving me no choice and it’s making me annoyed. I walked near the boys and gave the boy on the right a punch on the stomach. I made my punch strong, and did the same to the one on the left. It was so satisfying to see them holding their stomach so hard. The other boys decided not to taste my punch and went away from the door. Once there is no one blocking the door, I opened it quickly then get out. I heard Charise’s footsteps at my back. “Are you insane? Why did you punch them?!” she shouted at me. “Well they are blocking my way. It is their fault not to follow what I said when they have the chance.” I just said and walked to where I parked my motorcycle. I still hear Charise’s footsteps. “I am going home now girl.” “You really are something. And I am loving you by the minute. But I have to remind myself to never get you angry. Damn those punch hurts!” Charise mumbles from my back as she follows me. When we reached my motorcycle, I grabbed the helmet and wear it. “Damn girl! You ride a motorcycle!” she exclaimed looking so amazed. I just chuckled. “I am riding with you. You can take me home.” She said. Just before I could say no, she’s already sitting on my motorcycle. And that left me no choice.
