Alexis, throughout her conversation with Ryder had a nasty feeling disturbing her and the click of the bullet entering the chamber confirmed the feeling.
It felt as though time had stopped or rather things were rather moving in slow motion cause she could hear the the whizz of the bullet through the air. Though she could see all of it moving slowly, her body reacted slowly. She reached out for the steering wheel and like they both thought alike, she and Ryder swerved and made a hard right as the bullet crashed through the front glass and narrowly missed Alexis's head rather it found it self in her shoulder.
