Cold blooded Killer

1243 Words
Edie Gunshots echo throughout the club, cutting through the deep bass of the bouncing music. The once packed club is deserted now, only a few stragglers left. And there are bodies. Bleeding bodies… everywhere… Blood… So much blood. Blood… It was as if everything was running in slow motion. My brain can't seem to focus, as my vision begins to blur. I swallow hard, forcing the bile back down. It's just a lot of blood. But so much blood. No. It's just blood.. Stay calm. Stay focused. Don't panic. Breathe Edie, just breathe. "Charlie hun, can you hear me?" I place all my energy and focus on Charlie. She's dropped about 5 shades in her face, and her eyes glossed over as she stares off into the distance. "I'm fine.." she mutters in a nearly inaudible tone. I can feel the rapid rise and fall of her chest on my shoulder as she huddles close, clutching at my arm with her trembling hands. A younger man who was just talking to Paul is now running in our direction. "We have to get out of here, let's go." More shots are fired and I instinctively duck down, pulling Charlie with me. "f**k!" The young man yells. "Hide behind the bar, I'll be right back." I nod my head, dragging Charlie with me behind the bar. I finally take a moment to breath.. this was f*****g crazy.. I see Tracy is father down the bar, hiding away,, but I don't see Lydia anywhere.. "Charlie, I have to go find Lydia. Wait for me here unless that guy comes back, okay? Stay out of sight and stay quiet, okay?" Charlie nods in compliance, but her eyes display a look of sheer dread. I brush her wild hair from her face, giving her arm a reassuring squeeze. She smiles a hollow smile, tucking her legs into her chest. I give her one last glance before ducking out of the hiding place behind the bar. I round the corner slowly, plastering myself to the wall to attempt to keep out of sight. "Holy christ." Near the center of the dance floor, Paul is standing with his gun aimed at a man's head, pressed center between his eyes. Paul's eyes are glossed over with a look of amusement and rage. Those beautiful icy blue pools are now dark and malicious. " Ha. Go on and shoot me you coward." The man's tone is a snarky one, rather foolish for one in his position. A wildy manic grin grows on Paul's lips as he c***s the pistol in his hand. How can someone be so beautifully mesmerizing yet so horrifying? Suddenly, I feel a warm breath on my neck, a hand creeping down the small of my back, pulling my attention from Paul. "Well hello beautiful." "Holy s**t!" The words leave my lips in a high pitched shriek, drawing all eyes in my direction. "Bassu." The name rolls off Paul's tongue like icy daggers, a scowl plastered on his face. The man they call Bassu chuckles lightly. The vibrations of his chest register through my back as he closes what little distance was between us. "Surprised to see me Paul?" Paul grits his teeth, his brow furrowed in annoyance. "Well, you have been hiding like a cowardly little b***h. So yes, you could say I'm a bit surprised to see you." "I've been playing my cards strategically, Paul." His cold hands run up the length of my back, sending splintering shivers down my spine. I can feel the bile rising in my throat. My instinct is to run for it, but as soon as I shift my weight, a hand clasps around my bicep. "Where do you think you're going, beautiful?" Bassu clutches my arm tighter, pulling me deeper into his chest. "Let go of me you creep. Didn't your mother ever teach you not to touch a woman without permission." When I try to squirm his grip tightens even more, fingers digging deep in my skin. His laughter makes my blood curdle and I feel a fury rising within me. Before I know what I'm doing, I spin around. My fist connects with his throat in a swift, solid motion. Bassu keels over, his hands clasping at his throat as he tries to catch his breath. "What the f**k!" The words are barely auditable between his coughing. I take his weakened state to my advantage, throwing all my weight and strength into a kick. My foot connects with his knees, the sound of splintering bone ringing throughout the club. A loud curdling scream escapes his lips as his body crumpled to the floor with a thud. "When a woman tells you to let go, you let go." "Feisty little b***h!" Bassu grumbles through gritted teeth. There is an eerie silence that envelops the club, no one says a word, as everyone looks around in astonishment. What the f**k did I just do? Oh my God. What did I just do? Just as the panic is setting in, Paul's laughter cuts through the thick air, a glint of amusement twinkling in those beautifully dangerous eyes. Without another word, Paul fires his gun, sending the bullet through the Fang members head.. the gunshot rings through the club, stinging my ears with its loud echoes. He was so close, the blood splatter covered parts of his face. He smiles the most terrifying smile as he saunters over to Bassu, who is writhing in pain on the club floor. "Did you really think this was going to turn out in your favor?" Bassu laughs softly before spitting at Paul's feet. "Oh Pauly. I'm simply here with a message, fulfilling my duty. My death is an honor. I come with a message. White Fang will not be outshone by you weasels. You will surrender, or you will pay in blood." Paul scoffs at Bassu. His hand raises, steady and swift, his finger on the trigger of his gun. "f**k you." Paul let's off five shots into Bassu, never once flinching. Blood quickly begins to pool from his now lifeless body. I stare at my bare legs, which are now decorated like a Pollock painting. Paint of choice, blood. A surge of emotions rush through me, as I stare into the lifeless eyes of Bassu. I don't know if I should scream, cry... what… Paul pockets his gun, taking a step toward me. My brain is going a million miles a minute. I feel like I should run, fight, or something..... I lose myself in my internal thoughts, I am freaking out. My brain is screaming to run, get out of here, but my body is refusing to move, stuck like stone. Paul moves closer in my direction, until there is hardly any distance between us. My heart is pounding in my chest. I can feel it pulsating in my ears and neck. I can't seem to catch my breath, every one is shorter than the last. It feels like the room is closing in around me. My legs suddenly feel like jelly. "Edie, breathe. You have to breathe." My vision is going fuzzy, I'm starting to see double. I try to move, to speak, but I can't. Nothing is happening. It's as though my body has been disconnected from my mind.. Darkness starts to envelope me, my vision falling as my brain glitches out. I don't feel very good.
