31 ZEKE Somehow, I made it through work on Monday without a hint of my sins arising. Tuesday passed in the same vein. Wednesday and Thursday, even better. I breathed easier even though heartache over missing Levi and having to set aside what I wanted with him for God lingered in my heart and head. At least I didn’t shift in my office chair, my pulse leaping, every time someone knocked on my door. I began to think that physically, the entire affair lay behind me—us—but I did fear the arrival of the weekend and Sunday service.
