Clara!! Clara look out!!" A voice called out faintly to her. It took an effort for her to open her eyelids, and looking inside the crystal clear water, she saw one of the dark creatures of the water just inches away from her face.
With a surge of adrenaline, she struck against the water.
The voice called out again. "It's coming for you Clara, run with all your might!!"
She instantly deciphered the voice to be that of Alec. She heaved a sight of relief, kicking and paddling with all her might.
Having gained distance from the water creatures, she called out to Alec's voice again. "Where are you Alec?"
There was no response, and she paddled on, desperate to escape the clutches of the water creatures and leave the water.
The creature seemed to retire from the chase, but not for long
