ALEXA'S POV
I felt a sharp pain underneath my legs, my footprint mixed with the color of my blood. I didn't bother to have a look at it; I was at the ridge of losing my mom, and all that didn't matter. I carefully studied each plant I came across in the field.
" Where is the goddamn herb!" I yelled in frustration, standing at the borderline of my pack. I can't take the risk of going into the Blood Moon pack; that is a calling of the Wall.
My wolf said with pain in her voice, I guess you would just go back home and watch our mother die slowly in your arms.
I felt a little determination, crossing the borderline. I scattered the greenfield, but the Hawthorn herb couldn't be found. I spotted a different herb; it was a Lavender herb; it helps to reduce stress and anxiety, and maybe that could work out well, too.
I plucked it off, running back to the pack, the pain underneath my foot only grew worse, but I didn't care. I got to our little house on the farm, running towards my mother's mat as she agonized in pain.
" I'm here, Mother; I didn't get the herbs. I'm sorry, but I got something that could help slow your heartbeat a little, huh.." I said in a trembling voice; she held my hands, kissing my hand softly.
I shook my head in disagreement; this was a traditional firmware method. I checked the bag for the herbs but couldn't find it. Then it dawned on me that there was a huge hole in the bag.
" No! No! No!" I cried out." Dony, sorry, Mother, I am going to look for a solution, okay?" I said, making an attempt to leave but she held my dress.
" Don.. Don't bother...," She struggled to whisper.
" No, I'm going to find a solution, Mother," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks.
"Help! Please help my mom, why are you looking at me this way? My mom is dying, and she needs serious medical attention, I know we are just mere omegas, but this doesn't define humanity at all." I cried out.
" Please, I'm begging you. I've been cast from all the medicine shops because of my rank in the pack, I n..." I was interrupted by my mom's severe cough; I ran to her at the sight of blood.
This isn't fair; whoever brought that rule of omega being cast out like trash Is going to pay someday.
" Y-O-U-R Fa..." She coughed.
My father? Mother never agreed to talk about my father. Why now?
" He is a half..wolf...." She struggled to say, holding my hand tightly into hers.
"Half witch.." She whispered, pulling me into a hug. I paused for a moment, Half witch? Half wolf? My father? He isn't an omega? I was lost in my thoughts for a while before realizing that she wasn't saying a word.
She fell off my shoulder like a piece of log.
" Mother, you can't do this to me. It's not time yet; you can't leave me in this wicked world to wander Alone yet; I am not prepared for this." I yelled, shocking her body, but there was no reply.
" Motherr!!! Mother, please don't do this. M...Mother I'm scared of them. Mother..." I cried out.
I felt a strong arm pull me off my mom's body. I struggled to free myself from their grip, but it was of no use; they have a crazy custom. Whosoever dies in their land belongs to them, especially the Omegas.
" Please, don't take my mom away from me." I pleaded, staring at them with a teary eye.
The man on my right-hand side looked quite familiar; it was Kalus, my ex-mate. He rejected me because I was an omega. I thought we had some connection, but it was all a game, and now he has the guts to hold me here.
" Let go of me," I whispered. He studied me carefully with guilt in his eyes, releasing the grip.
" 1 minute." The huge dark man said.
One minute? How can they be this heartless? How can they just give me a minute to talk to my mom, to be with my mom for the very last time? I walked slowly towards her corpse. It's so bad it has to end the way on her own. Tim of the line, she has been through a lot because of me, securing a land here, just for me to have a proper life.
" I don't know what to say, Mother, I'm just short of words..." I sobbed.
" What am I going to do? I'm going to do whatever it takes to find the man who abandoned us for years. I will make sure, he feels so broken for what he missed. I love you so much, Mom..." I paused, cleaning the tears off my cheeks.
" Time up! Take the body." He instructed; two hefty men pulled me off her body and I watched my mother's body being taken away from me.
" You all are going to pay for this! I hate you all!" I cried out. They pushed me down to the ground as the big guy scoffed.
" What are you going to do? Beat us up? Leave the white ring pack this instant. We did your mother a favor by letting you grow here; it's about time you leave, " He ordered in a hoarse voice, sending shivers down my spine.
They can't do this to me, where would I go? Who do I know? I won't be able to survive in the street, I stared at Kalus, waiting for thy miracle to happen, but he only had a mischievous grin on his face.
I stared at his face for the very last time before running Into the woods, without turning back. The city of Malina isn't far from here, I'm going to get there before dusk.
I need to be strong if I want to sur
vive in this wicked world, this is just the beginning of my tale anyway.
