ElevenThe sound of knocking awakens Michael. He stumbles to the door to answer it, but sees a small envelope being slipped into the room. He opens it to find a key and a note from Celia: “Dear Michael, I believe our unexpected meeting last night was serendipitous. If you agree, this key will open the door at 1918 Emerald Plaza. Welcome back to New Orleans.” Michael places the key and note in the pocket of his jacket, which hangs over the chair. He steps through the open French doors onto the terrace of his third s********m to enjoy the view of the Mississippi River, its surface shimmering from the dazzling morning sun. The Mississippi Belle is anchored by the dock, resting from the revelry and romance it provided to hundreds of tourists the night before. Michael steps back into the room
