JAKE
After waking up the next morning, I was trying to find out where Becka's new mate would have gone to. Unfortunately, many leads suggested she was dead. She wandered into the woods and nobody could find her. I decided to take the day as it went if something popped up at least I would have feedback other than what the regional pack told her. According to them, Lyda was dead. Which I didn't think was possible. Around lunch, I messaged Horatio to ask permission to hear where Alice worked. She messaged me back with what Alice liked to eat. After ordering I gave it the right amount of time to have it be delivered. I phoned her finding peace in the madness of the day when she picked up her phone. I smiled hearing that the food was just delivered. I wanted to see her, even if it was just to keep her close. The bear inside wanted to do more, wanted to teach her more. But I quickly told him we will be taking our time with Alice. She went through hell with my brother and I was still out for blood if he ever showed his muzzle near her again. The rest of the day went by with me keeping Alice's voice in my mind, the one thing that kept me sane through meetings and trying to keep Becka from going insane. I arrived at Alice's building and made my way to the elevator. The building belonged to a man named Smithy Jones. A local in the area who liked money more than his ex-wife. Something felt off as I climbed into the elevator and it closed behind me. I couldn't place it, nor could I explain the dire need to actually get to her floor in a hurry. When it opened and Alice stood just outside it, jumping at the sound of the elevator, I knew my instinct wasn't wrong. I just needed to figure out what the f**k was going on. I walked to her and took her into my arms. If I could just have her with me all the time, and never let her go. Keep her safe from everything and anybody. Her tiny arms wrapped around my middle nuzzling her head to my chest. "Just jumpy is all" My bear and I were already on alert trying to listen if somebody was lurking. I let her go and took her hand, I wanted to tighten my grip on her, but that would make her panic. And I wanted her to stay calm and safe. I didn't know why I felt like I needed to overprotect her, but I didn't care at that moment. When the elevator closed behind us after we entered it to leave, the silence must have been too much. "So, I had an interesting afternoon. A lady walked into the office and just spat a random sentence at me." With that, I gripped her hand tighter. I had to know if this woman hurt her. Had to know everything that happened. When Alice shook her head but continued to speak I pulled her in front of me the moment she described Lyda to me. What the hell would she be doing here? And why the f**k come to Alice. How did she even know where she was? I called Becka the moment I had Alice in front of me, making sure to keep her close. I could have pulled her behind me, but that would have made her panic more than she already was. Becka picked up her phone "Is she?"
"She is alive"
With Alice's hand still in mine, we walked through the front door, me still making sure I didn't spot Lyda on the way to my car. Nothing. It was just an average afternoon of people heading home, rushing to get to their events. Alice looked up at me. "Jake, what's going on?" I couldn't tell her. "A friend of mine Becka's girlfriend has gone a little crazy" I hate lying, especially to Alice. "And why did she want to tell me to be careful what I wished for and to be careful" I opened the car door for her and she climbed in thanking me. I closed her door and checked the surroundings. I climbed in and started the car, and took in exactly what Alice just said. What she wished for? I knew Lyda was a psychic but her finding Alice....Something going to happen and we needed to find Lyda before Henry gets to her as well. I drove me and Alice to my complex with me still keeping an eye on all the sides to make sure nobody was following us. I know it seems paranoid but I was rather safe than sorry. "Jake?" s**t, I never answered her. "Hmm?" Alice turned a bit in her seat. "It will be alright babe" I told her when my gaze met with hers. "I trust you on that" She smiled, taking my hand that was over the gear shift. I calmed down a bit more as she took my hand. "Holy heck" She whispered as I parked the car in front of the complex. "You live up there?!" She pointed up. I laughed a bit and nodded. "I own the building" Her eyes widened. "You own this?" I climbed out a big smile on my face. Her expression was priceless. She didn't know much about me but did know about the complex. we spoke about it back at her place. I opened her door and she climbed out, still staring at the building. "If this impresses you, wait until you see the inside. I took her hand in mine after I locked the doors, and kissed her. With Becka talking to the pack, I was free for the moment. She would call with an update as soon as there was one. "Come on, let me go and show you around"
ALICE
I was pretty much in awe as Jake stopped in front of the building he called home. I felt calm around him, the threat of sorts from earlier subsided a bit for the moment. After I climbed from the car he drove and taking his hand he lead me into the building. If the outside was anything to say about the inside you were clearly didn't know. The outside looked like the grandest hotel in the city. Golden pillars, red tapestry....You name it for a hotel...it was there. The inside was warmly lit, with fancy carpets and even a check-in desk. "You live in a Hotel?" I asked just looking around as we headed for the elevator. "This is Grand Estate Metro. I didn't want to change the name it was under. A lot of potential and even though this is home. It's not really home." I tilted my head as he pressed the button on the wall. "So this is just a home away from home?" I asked. He nodded and looked down at me. "Home is in Bear Valley. It's a small town with just as much potential as this building" I smiled. He was so passionate about it, I wanted to know everything about his hometown. As the elevator dinged I looked at it as it opened, we walked inside and he pressed a button that was different from the rest. A capital letter P was on the button. A keypad underneath it told me not everybody had access to that floor. He pressed them so quickly I barely had time to see what the numbers were. The door shut and we started the long ascending up to what I believe was the Penthouse. "Bear Valley. I haven't heard of it before"
"It's a small place, with big forests and lakes." He told me. Before I could ask him anything else. The door opened and I was once again in awe. "This....oh wow" Jake kissed my head as he walked us inside. "I wanted to take you out for dinner, but decided to rather make us something"
He showed me around a bit, the whole complex was as big as a double-story house. The kitchen itself looked like something out of some fancy show me your house shows. Open plan with black tiles, the countertops the most expensive granite out there. The atmosphere is like a farmhouse. He told me about how he worked to make it look a lot like the Ranch. So he was actually a cowboy, who moved to the city. After he showed me around a bit, I took a seat in the kitchen while he started on dinner. He poured us some wine. The same one he ordered back at my place. He was an incredible cook. I needed to cook for him sometimes, he has been spoiling me so much. After a while, I had to use the bathroom, and for the life of me, I couldn't remember which one was the guest bathroom. Up the flight of stairs, that's all I could remember. I must have gotten lost a bit, but I ended up at a few mahogany doors. I looked into one. "Nope bedroom" I sighed and tried another. But as soon as I touched the door I heard a voice "Alice, what on earth are you doing?"
