Chapter 36Charlotte woke to the sound of birdsong coming from just outside her window. It was the unmistakeable serenade of a blackbird. She stirred lazily, feeling safe and warm beneath the daisy patterned quilt that adorned the bed in Jenny's spare room. As she turned over in bed to look towards the brilliant shafts of morning sunlight that were creeping through the curtains, Charlotte realised she hadn't felt so relaxed in a long time, certainly not since she'd begun working for Malcolm Capshaw.
