Episode 11 -The Seventh Relic

1284 Words
The observatory fell silent. Even the Hunters stopped moving. Elias slowly pushed himself upright, still breathing heavily as silver energy flickered around him like unstable fire. “The Seventh Relic…” he whispered weakly. Kael immediately looked toward Alaric. “What does that mean?” Alaric did not answer right away. His eyes remained fixed on Elias. Or more specifically— On the glowing silver markings spreading across Elias’s body. The old Watcher’s expression darkened. “…We are out of time.” Outside, the Skybreaker roared again. The fracture above Velmora widened farther, casting crimson shadows across the city. Buildings continued collapsing in the distance. Reality itself was becoming unstable. Darius crossed his arms calmly. “So the Watchers truly hid the truth.” Kael’s grip tightened around his sword. “What truth?” Alaric finally stepped farther into the room. “The Seventh Relic was never an object.” Silence. Elias frowned immediately. “…What?” Alaric looked directly at him. “It is a soul.” Cold fear spread through Elias’s chest. “No.” But deep inside— Something already knew. The silver key floated closer to him. The Blade of Aether followed. As if responding to the truth. Lyra slowly stood beside Elias. “You’re saying Elias is the Seventh Relic?” Alaric answered quietly: “No.” Everyone froze. Then the old Watcher continued: “The Gatewalker is.” The room became deathly silent. Elias felt his heartbeat pounding violently in his ears. Darius smiled faintly. “Now things make sense.” Kael looked furious. “Explain. Now.” Alaric closed his eyes briefly. “Long ago, during the Ancient War, seven relics were created to seal the Final Gate and protect the Veil.” Silver lightning flashed across the fractured sky outside. “The Hollow King tried to claim the relics and merge all realities into one world.” Elias remembered the visions. The war. The destruction. The silver-eyed figure. “The Gatewalker led the relic bearers against him,” Alaric continued. “But in the final battle, the Gatewalker discovered something terrible.” Darius finished the sentence calmly. “The Veil could never remain sealed permanently.” Alaric’s silence confirmed it. Lyra looked shaken. “So what happened?” Alaric’s gaze lowered slightly. “To save the worlds… the Gatewalker sacrificed himself.” Elias’s chest tightened strangely. Not emotionally. Physically. Like the story itself hurt. “He divided his soul across time,” Alaric said quietly. “Waiting for the moment the Final Gate would begin reopening.” Elias stared at him. “…No.” The silver key glowed brighter. The markings on Elias’s arm spread farther up his neck. “You’re saying I’m him?” Alaric answered carefully. “You are Elias Grey.” Then softer: “But you also carry the soul of the Gatewalker.” The room felt unreal. Elias backed away slowly. “That’s impossible.” Darius laughed quietly. “You should stop using that word. Nothing about you is normal anymore.” Kael looked toward Alaric sharply. “Why didn’t you tell him earlier?” “Because I hoped I was wrong.” Outside, another explosion shook Velmora violently. The Skybreaker was pushing farther through the fracture now. Gigantic black wings emerged beyond the Veil. The city barriers flickered desperately. Darius glanced toward the sky. “We can discuss destiny later. The Skybreaker is nearly through.” Lyra immediately turned toward Alaric. “How do we stop it?” The old Watcher looked toward Elias again. “With all Seven Relics.” Silence. Kael frowned. “We only have two.” “Three,” Alaric corrected. Everyone looked confused. Alaric pointed toward Elias. “The Seventh has already awakened.” Elias immediately looked uncomfortable. “I really don’t like being called a relic.” Fair. Alaric continued. “The remaining relics are hidden across the Veil.” Darius smirked faintly. “And the Hollow King is searching for them too.” Kael cursed softly under his breath. “So we’re in a race against an ancient god.” “Essentially,” Darius replied. Elias rubbed his forehead. “My life was so much easier three days ago.” The observatory trembled harder. Large cracks spread across the floor now. Velmora was falling apart. Alaric moved toward the center of the room quickly. “We cannot stay here.” Kael nodded immediately. “The lower districts are already collapsing.” Lyra looked toward Elias carefully. “Can you still use the key?” Elias stared at the floating relic beside him nervously. “…Maybe?” Not reassuring. The Silver Key slowly rotated in the air. Then pointed downward. Toward the observatory floor. Alaric’s eyes narrowed. “It’s guiding us.” Darius looked interested. “The Gatewalker pathways…” Kael looked suspicious immediately. “You know about those?” Darius smiled slightly. “I know many things.” Before anyone could respond— The floor exploded upward. A massive crimson blade tore through the observatory from below. Everyone jumped backward instantly. A gigantic Hunter emerged from beneath the building. Twice the size of the others. Its armor was covered in glowing crimson runes while multiple burning eyes opened across its body. Kael’s expression hardened immediately. “…A Ruin Hunter.” The monster roared violently. The sound alone shattered the remaining observatory windows. Hunters flooded into the room behind it. Darius sighed dramatically. “And there goes the conversation.” The Ruin Hunter pointed directly at Elias. “THE FINAL BEARER BELONGS TO THE HOLLOW KING.” Elias pointed at himself nervously. “I don’t belong to anybody!” The monster attacked instantly. Kael and Darius moved at the same time. Silver and crimson energy exploded across the observatory. The impact nearly tore the building apart. Lyra created barriers around Elias and Alaric while Hunters attacked from every direction. Chaos returned instantly. Elias gripped the Blade of Aether tightly. The relic pulsed in response. Then the visions came again. Faster. Stronger. This time Elias saw the Gatewalker clearly. Standing before the Final Gate. Blood covering his hands. The seven relics floating around him. And behind him— A giant silver throne. Empty. Then the Gatewalker turned toward Elias directly. Their identical faces stared at one another. “You must remember before the King awakens.” Elias clenched his head painfully. “Stop doing that!” The vision shattered. Reality returned violently. The observatory was collapsing. Kael was struggling against the Ruin Hunter. Darius fought multiple Hunters effortlessly, though even he looked pressured now. Alaric suddenly grabbed Elias’s shoulder firmly. “Listen to me carefully.” Elias looked up weakly. “The Final Gate is hidden beneath the Hollow Realm.” “The what?” “You must never open it completely.” The old Watcher’s voice became deadly serious. “No matter what you see. No matter who asks.” Fear crawled through Elias’s chest again. “What happens if I do?” Alaric’s expression turned grim. “The worlds end.” Before Elias could respond— The Silver Key suddenly released a blinding flash. Ancient symbols spread across the floor beneath them. A hidden gateway opened. Wind exploded upward from the darkness below. Alaric looked shocked. “…It opened a Gatewalker path.” The Ruin Hunter roared furiously. It charged toward Elias. Kael shouted immediately: “GO!” The observatory ceiling finally collapsed. Stone rained from above. Without another choice, Elias grabbed Lyra’s arm and jumped into the glowing gateway with Alaric beside him. Darius looked toward the portal briefly while fighting. Then unexpectedly— He smiled. “Now this becomes interesting.” The gateway closed instantly behind them. And Velmora disappeared into darkness.
