Day 1Rear Admiral Earl Yerger, United States Navy, looked out over the flight deck of his flagship, the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Dwight D. Eisenhower, and he was pleased with what he saw. Captain Warren’s flight deck crew spotted, launched, and recovered the air wing’s aircraft with well-practiced efficiency. He turned his head towards the bow and watched two F/A-18 Super Hornets launch from the bow-mounted catapults, better known as the bow cats.
