Barbra ran every test she knew and nothing came back abnormal. Not a trace of scarpance was left in her system.
"She must have burned it all off during her fever. Normally that takes weeks even for a wolf."
"I thought you said it didn't affect wolves?"
"It doesn't but the herb attaches to fat cells in the body and lingers for weeks even in wolves. It doesn't cause us any issues because we run too hot for it to cause side effects. If a human took it they would suffer weakness, blackouts, and would be susceptible to persuasion for months."
I wondered if the demon who injected her knew she wasn't human. Could that be why it stalked her?
