The moon hung high in the night sky. It's glow the only light in an otherwise pitch-black forest. I could barely see the two figures in the darkness as they moved slowly through the snow. The forest was silent, not even an owl dared make a sound. The snow swirled around the pair with a bitter wind. Then... the silence was shattered.
A low hum of something motorized echoed through the trees. The figured stopped and stared in the direction of the hum before moving quickly towards the tree line.
"Keep low Zara. Stay close to the trees"
The smaller figure struggled to trudge through the knee high snow.
The engine sound grew louder and faint lights appeared in the distance.
"I can't keep going Josh... I don't have the strength."
