The CEO is awake

917 Words
My dad was standing beside the Chief Judge with bodyguards around them. My stepmom was ruthless; after she pulled my fiance from my arms, she started to hit her on her back, saying," You poor lady, leave my son alone; I will not allow a thief like you to have anything in common with my son." Lily cried a loud as my stepmom kept talking and hitting her. I could feel her pain, but I could not do anything; to come down from the hospital bed was impossible. Ah! my body aches. Some of the medical personnel helped to hold my stepmom as Lily ran out of the hospital room crying bitterly. The observers that came started to leave, the medical personnel returned to their posts and some of the guards left the room without receiving a command from either my dad or the chief judge. The room became less populated. I wish I could find the strength to get out of bed and help Lily. She needs my support right now, and I feel the weight of that on my heart. After meditating for a while, I understand her struggles more clearly. It’s obvious she could use a friend. I need to be there for her and offer comfort and understanding. However, I am stuck in this bed. It feels like a lot of things are happening at the wrong time. My stepmom picked up her handbag from the floor, along with her messy shoes and a delicate bangle that had come loose while she was hitting my fiance. She sighed heavily and sat in a chair by the television, looking frustrated. "This day is full of problems," she said wearily. She looked at me and said, "This girl does not love you. She took advantage of our absence to get your attention. That is what poor girls do, and when they become part of your family, they can cause havoc that you cannot manage. I want you to stay away from her, Ricky." She expected a response from me, but I remained silent, and the room became quiet. My dad was angry; his face was filled with rage as if I had committed a terrible crime. He did not say a word. The Chief Judge walked to the side of my bed and asked, "How are you doing?" I said, "I am fine." My voice was becoming clearer and stronger. He then added, "You are alive after this fatal accident; there must be something special about you." What is he saying? What accident is he talking about? I pondered. He stretched out his hand and said to one of the guards, "Give me the documents." The bodyguard hurriedly opened small black briefcase and removed a file containing some papers and gave it to the Chief Judge. The Chief Judge collected the file from his guard and gave it to my dad. My dad acted like someone who is under pressure. His demeanor clearly showed it. He collected the file and opened it. He placed on my bed, though I could barely see the writing on the document but I could see his hands shivering. He gave me a pen and said, "Ricky, sign here." Without reading the content, I signed. We often do this with my dad; I trust him. He turned to the next page and said sign here, I did. He closed the file and gave it to the Chief Judge. I never thought it would be so easy, the Chief Judge said as he received the file smiling and looking at me. My dad's facial expression still didn't look right as they walked toward the door discussing. One of the doctors walked in and interrupted their conversation; I heard him telling my dad, " Your son's condition was serious when he was brought here, but his response to treatment has been positive. We may discharge him soon, Just ensure that he takes his medication on time and avoids conversations that may stress him, as this could lead to an imbalance in his recovery and could even affect his brain." Thank you for being a good doctor to my family, my dad appreciated him. Drop the medical bill with my wife, we will attend to it after....... Everyone's attention was drawn to the television. It was the moment of breaking news. To my amazement, my dad's picture was displayed. The newscaster announced that "Mr. Richard, the owner of Drink Me Company and one of the richest businessman in the state has officially withdrawn his interest to run for the governorship election. In an interview, he said ", a video clip followed with my dad saying"I am no longer running for the governorship elections because... my stepmom took the television remote control and tried to turn off the television, but it wasn't working. She tried again, but it still wouldn't respond. Frustrated, she angrily yanked the television's power cord from the wall socket. The atmosphere in the hospital room became increasingly tense. My fiance left the hospital in tears, and my dad who appointed CEO of his company to pursue his political career is not contesting the governorship election. Is it because I am on a sick bed that's why he planned to take the company from me? The burden felt so heavy that I started to fidget. My stepmom began shouting, "Somebody help! Doctor!" I could hear footsteps approaching my bed quickly. I felt life slipping away from me, and everything went silent.
