Peter's family

Peter is a young teenager from a family of ten. He has three brothers; Abel, Duncan,Kevin and four sisters, Tracy, Michelle, Janet and Sarah. His dad is a strong and hardworking builder who works very hard to take care of his family. Mr Opio Dauglas is a committed father to his children. His wife Opio Trevin is a loving and caring mother who takes care of the children and the home. The family mainly depends on farming for survival . They carry out cattle rearing were they get milk and beef and also some goats. His goats are said to be of the best quality in the whole village because he feeds them on supplements which he buys from the nearby town. As a culture , Mr Opio slaughters a goat for his family on birthdays, religious festivals and weekends. He also sold some to get school fees for his children. His children really loved him because he was a loving and considerate father. His wife Miss Trevin weaves baskets which she sells to buy clothes for the children. Their children attended school in the nearby town. From school, the girls helped the mom in house work and the boys graze the animals. Janet is the eldest child in the family and she has completed her university . Her brothers Abel and Duncan are in high school. After her schooling, she struggled a lot before she could acquire a job. She first worked at Mr Noel's home as a house maid . Mr Noel was the richest man in the village. All in vain; God made away. She got a job with United Nations. She had done a course in social service. She could support her parents with paying school fees for the siblings since the parents had no permanent source of income. His brother; Kevin had completed college and had got a job at Progressive Academy School. One day, Mr Opio was jazzing with his family in the trading centre about the issue of taking children to school. He was disappointed in his friends when they considered it as a wastage of money. His friends would say; is education the only way to success. There lived a rich man in the village who had not attended school. He had a good house and very expensive cars. Mr Opio's friends considered him as their role model for he had money and fame but had not attended to school. Mr Opio's friends thought education was useless to a child and time consuming. Mr Opio was not supportive to this for he thought education was aimed at equipping the child with the basic knowledge and skills. To him, education was a key to success. Mr Opio decided to leave a group of unproductive and selfish friends who never wanted to take their children to school. They thought whoever went to school had to be rich In the neighbouring village, there lived their grandmother who used to narrate interesting stories to the children. One day, she told them a story about why a lion never eats with a wolf. She narrated that a lion was a good friend of the wolf . They used to hunt and ate together. They moved together like a hen and it's chicks. But one day as the lion was lying near a pond of water, it woke up and found the wolf lying on it's back . The lion ran after wolf and they fought until the lion killed wolf. Since then lions never eat and move with wolves. The children enjoyed and learnt a lot from the story. On their visit, they carried firewood and a jerrycan of water for her . On their way back home; she packed for them honey and yellow bananas and said farewell to them. They would reach home excited and happy because they loved their grandmother .
