The Queen of the Rogues

Kyle’s eyes remained on the road. His face was serious and he was driving at an alarming speed.

“Why were they there Kyle?” Amanda asked nervously from the backseat.

Kyle remained tight lipped as he held the steering wheel tight.

“Kyle I asked you a question!” She demanded.

“Did you tell him about us?” Kyle asked her, his face still serious as he drove.

“What? Kyle! No! We fooled around in high school! I’ve only known Jake for 5 days!” Amanda screamed furiously.

“So I wasn’t worth mentioning?” He asked almost angrily.

“Kyle! You’re being ridiculous! Stop!” She was frustrated. Why was he behaving like this? “And I asked you a question first!” She demanded. Her brown eyes were furrowed in anger.

“Oh you want to know why the rogues were there?” Kyle snapped. “The one’s your so keen on helping are currently trashing your sisters new pack!” He growled.

Amanda winced at his words. She knew he was hurt but she couldn’t control the mate bond. And that wasn’t the only reason their relationship had fizzled. It ended because they lacked passion and loved each other like brother and sister. Or so she thought.

Suddenly she thought of Rocky’s, the rogue she had met in the school library, and his words. “Try a different approach”

“Kyle.” Amanda spoke softly. “I’m so sorry you’re hurt. And i mean it when I say I love you. I always want you as part of my life,”

“Just not like that, yeah I’ve heard you,” he muttered.

Amanda sighed. “Jennifer!” She exclaimed.

“Who?” Kyle asked.

“There was a girl Jennifer in my last class and she was super into you! She was admiring your bum and commenting on how hot you are and we talked about you whenever we could in class,” Amanda embellished a little but Jennifer was super into Kyle.

“Oh yeah?” Kyle raised an eyebrow. “Did you tell her you crushed my heart and I’m now your driver?”

Amanda groaned internally. This wasn’t working either.

“Kyle. You value the mate bond. I know you do. And I’m sorry the moon goddess didn’t make me yours. Maybe she made a mistake - I don’t know. I just know that Jake is my mate. I followed my heart. I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you about it. I f****d up,” she unbuckled her seat belt and leaned forward. “Kyle. You’re my best friend in the world. I need you by my side. As my Beta,” she told him.

“Really?” Kyle whipped his head around. “You would want me over all your friends?” His eyes were excited.

“Kyle!” Amanda shouted as he narrowly missed a turn. She couldn’t help but noticed how the road had so many quick turns. It was along the edge of a mountain. One wrong turn could be fatal.

“Sorry!” Kyle exclaimed. He sighed. “I’m sorry I’m being a jerk. Again. I kept hoping I would be your chosen mate. We had such cool chemistry and we look adorable together,” he sighed. The last comment made her giggle. “But I get it. And I do like Jake. Ugh. Heartbreak is rough man,” he sighed.

Amanda rubbed his shoulders. “Thank you!” She grinned. “Now are you going to tell me why the rogues are destroying my sisters pack or what?”

Kyles sighed. “They’re there for you,” he muttered.

“Pardon me?” Amanda gasped. She felt her heartbeat quickening.

“Apparently they knew you had found your mate and were in waiting to see if it would be announced. When you and Jake were announced as the destined pair, the forest shook for miles. It sounds like they heard and came to take you for themselves.”

Amanda was shocked. “Why would they want me?” She gasped.

“They want you to be their queen,” Kyle told her. “As the queen of all, they want you to lead the rogues in rising against the other packs.”

Amanda nearly laughed. “But that’s absurd! I’m not even officially queen until I’m 21. Like 6 months from now!”

“We know. We had to get you out of there!” Kyle exclaimed. “It would just take one to drug you and take you. And we couldn’t let that happen.”

Amanda tried desperately to mind link Jake, but he was closed up. She knew he was ok, she hadn’t felt anything to indicate otherwise. She figured he was still fighting. She sat back and sighed.

“Rocky!” She exclaimed.

“Who’s Rocky?” Kyle exclaimed.

“He was the rogue in the library. He was helpful with my stats work and then called me their queen and said they’d be back for me!” She cried out, placing her hand over her mouth in shock.

“Did you tell anyone about this?” Kyle hissed angrily.

Amanda shook her head. “No,” she admitted. “I didn’t want my parents to pull me from school,” she told him.

“f**k!” Kyle hit the steering wheel. Suddenly, there was a bump.

“Kyle?!” Amanda shrieked. “What the f**k was that?” She was feeling uneasy. She had a feeling there was something wrong.

Kyle went silent. As they came around another curve in the road. There were 10 wolves lined on the road. “s**t!!” Kyle screamed as he swerved quickly.

“Noooooooo!!!” Amanda shrieked, covering her face. The car flew through the guard rail, and was sent careening over the edge of the cliff.
