Till My Last Breathe In Any Cost

Six hours later

Fred’s p.o.v.

I, Olivia and Brian are all in front of my angel’s bed waiting for her to wake up. Ok! Brian is already asleep. Olivia had to go back to pick up Lily, she dropped her at her neighbor's and returned just now. As for me, except for to attend some calls, I have been here waiting for her to wake up the whole time.

“Maybe you can go and eat something, you haven’t eaten anything since morning. Doctor said, ‘she is fine.’ Also she won’t wake up just because you are looking at her.” Olivia says in a weak voice.

“No. I am fine. You sound tired. You should better go and take some rest.” I say still looking at my angel.

“No. I am fine as well.” She says sitting back in chair.

Half an hour later

I see my angel finally trying to open her eyes. She blinks a few times and looks around a little confused.

“You are in hospital. You were hit in your head. What happened?” Olivia asks concerned.

“I… uhhh…. Water.” She says in a hoarse voice.

I pass her the water and help her sit.

“Nothing. Just an accident.” She says reassuringly.

“But how-” Olivia continues but I cut her and say, “She woke up just now. Don’t ask her too many questions? She needs rest.”

I know she is lying. There’s no way it was just an accident. I heard some guys voices when I was talking with her. I already even asked my personal investigator to search the matter.

“You need to rest now. Call me if you need something?” I say helping her manage her messy hair.

“Okay. Brother takes care of me the best.” She says smiling brightly at me.

“Of cour- what?? What did you just call me?” No. No. This can’t be happening to me.

“What happen? Did I say something wrong brother?

“Didn’t you say that she is fine? How come she forgot who I am?” I almost yell at the doctor.

I am in the chief physician’s office so pissed. Brian is with me. Olivia is with Angel to help her.

Knock.. knock…

“Come in.” Dr. Conner says sighing. (Chief Physician)

“You called me so urgently. Is there something wrong, doctor?” Dr. Roger (Castiel’s attending doctor) says entering the room.

Dr. Conner explains the matter to him which seems to surprise him a little.

“But her reports have already arrived. She wasn’t injured so badly to affect her memory. And the reports are also quite good. I suppose its rather psychological. I think it is PTHD. It is just temporary so you need not get too worried. I suggest you to consult a psychologist. But she is in a timid state so you should take proper care of her and don’t let her take too much stress.” Dr. Roger says calmly.

Castiel’s p.o.v.

“Cas!! How can you be so childish? Pretending to lose memory. Like seriously!!” Olivia says crossing her arms.

“How did you know?” I ask surprised.

“I am not your bestie for no reason. You think that I don’t know that you are a terrible liar and you always cross your fingers and hide them behind your back whenever you lie.” She says raising her eyebrows.

“God. You are scary. I have to be more careful now.” I say shrugging.

“Don’t change the topic? What if he will know that you lied?”

“You won’t say nor will I. How will he know?” I say smiling sheepishly smiling.

“But why?”

“You know I saw a dream just now. You won’t believe it but I saw sis. She said to think if I have fallen in love or not.” I say remembering the dream.

“Soo.” She says questioning.

“Now that I think, it seems I have fallen. But she also said to ‘settle the scores and step forward bravely’ So don’t I need to take the revenge. For every time he laughed whenever I slipped, made me work overtime, tricked me, and made me make fool out of myself, I will make him pay. Hahahahahaha” I say with a fake devil laugh. I feel like such a bad-a*s.

“I am sure she must be screaming some where ‘I didn’t suggest that stupid idea.’ “

She says shaking her head in disapproval.

Suddenly the door bursts open and Lily comes in running.

“Mamaaaa.” Lily says as she tries to jump on the bed but Olivia stops her just in time.

“Little Lily! Why are you here?” I say looking at Olivia.

“I knew that something was wrong. When Olivia came to pick me up she looked upset and when I asked her where you are she said you are fine. So I guessed something must be wrong.” Lily says shrugging.

She is going to be a detective.

“Who did you come with?” I ask Lily. She just looks at the door where Mrs. Brown is standing awkwardly.

“Really sorry Castiel but she was screaming and said that she won’t stop until I take her to you so… I didn’t have an option.” She says feeling a little guilty.

“That’s okay. This little devil is really difficult to handle.” I say pinching her ears.

“Ouch… it hurts.” Lily says whining.

“I think we should leave them alone.” Olivia says to Mrs. Brown. I thank her one last time and she goes out with Olivia.

Fred’s p.o.v.

“It might be partial amnesia or just pthd. Its a psychological issue. Her physical check up reports are positive. Keep an eye on her for some days, then we can discuss what to do later. She is still in a little critical situation so don’t let her take any stress.” These words of the Doctor are repeating in my read like a broken tape recorder.

I don’t know what I should do so that she will get her memories back. She shouldn’t take stress so I can’t even force her to remember. Now all I can do is take care of her properly and help her recover.

I walk to the door of my angel when I hear her talking with Lily. They look so happy together. Olivia is taking with a middle aged lady. She waves her goodbye and stands beside me looking at angel and Lily. I don’t know why but I suddenly feel the urge to know about her and the little girls past. I really don’t know if I should ask when Olivia says, “She really loves Lily a lot.”

“Actually I was wondering about their past. What did actually happen?” I ask cautiously.

“Past?? So she already told you. That’s fast. But it seems she only told you half of it. Stupid!” She says sighing and continues, “I don’t know the whole story but as far as I know it was two years ago. Cas was really deep in depression. It had been weeks since she hadn’t spoke a word. Even the treatment was not working. The last thing she told was, ‘I am fine.’ ” I can see tears welling up in her eyes. I feel my heart ache by thinking what she might have been through.

She wipes her tears and continues, “At that time her cousin left her at our apartment but she never returned. She got into a car accident and died in spot. Her parents asked her to send Lily in an orphanage. Cas then herself was not in a good condition so her parents were worried for her. She fought with her parents for Lily. Lily herself had nightmares so Cas took the responsibility. Its probably the mother instinct or something, she felt the need to protect her daughter. She picked herself up as well as helped Lily to get settled with her new life. Its like two broken hearts trying to heal each other. Cas faced the world for Lily and Lily always tried to help and smiled to her mother. Actually Lily knows that Cas is not her biological mom so does Cas but they never concerned about it.” By the time Olivia finishes she is in tears but with a sad smile.

Tears in my eyes are threatening to spill. I am proud of my angel that she over came the biggest trial in life but also hate myself for not being with her then. I look at my angel and her little angel smiling so happily. Its true that the saddest hearts have the brightest smile. Don’t worry I won’t let anything happen to you.

I, Fred Lewis now and hereby promise to love, protect and take care of Castiel Johnson and Lily Johnson till my last breathe in any cost.
