**Kaiya’s POV**
“But daddy, I don’t want to train with advanced warriors!” I shout at my father half asleep still in bed. It was 4:45am and he was making me train.
“Yes you are Kaiya and that is an Alpha King Order.” My father says in his Alpha King Command voice. I groan and finally get up because it is way too early to be arguing. I hated when he used his Alpha King Command on me. Especially so early in the morning, it was the worst. My name is Kaiya, as you can tell. My father Richard Winsworth is the Alpha King of Silver Lake Kingdom. Growing up, I had it pretty easy. Maids tending to me, love from both my parents. I had everything I had ever asked for. I even convinced my father to let me attend my senior year at the public school outside of the castle. Even though my arrangements were a bit drastic, like I had to be in disguise from my classmates so they can focus on their work and not the princess in their class. I was just your average student. I only had a few friends just to hang around with during my last year to enjoy my senior year experience with them. I do plan on telling them on who I am under the disguise. I just needed to keep the act up till graduation. I was happy to spend some time outside of the castle, but now.. I am being forced to join the advanced warriors training sessions. I hated training, but I had to do it because it’s customary for heirs to the throne to train. Day by day, I finally started to get some interest in some of the training Beta Titus was putting me through and soon, I became fawn of weapons. I can pretty much hold my own with someone my size, but bigger opponents, I would be tossed around like a rag doll, that’s why I use my favorite weapon, the katana. But waking up so early in the morning to train to compromise for going to school was totally out of pocket. I just had to ask for a little freedom and they're quickly remind me they still have a huge hold on me. Ugh, I can't wait to meet my mate. I hope he’s from another Kingdom so I can leave this one, it would make my life so much easier. I wouldn’t have my parents watching my every move when I rule side by side with my king, my love, my mate.
My father sits on the edge of the bed and placed a hand on my leg showing he still cares about his little princess.
“Also another thing, I won’t be there to teach the class today. I have an important meeting with the other kingdoms in the surrounding area. Don’t worry Xavier and Josh are there now.” My father said as he got up and gave me a kiss on my head before walking out the door.
“Well that’s just great. I really don’t want to put up with Xavier’s flirting.” I say, rolling my eyes and sit up. He chuckles on his way out. He really hopes I have a strong mate when the time comes. I hoped too, but most of all, I hoped he would love me unconditionally.
“I’ll see you tomorrow afternoon, dear.” My father says to me before my personal maid, Lynette Winters, rushes in.
“C’mon Kaiya. You’ll be late for training.” Lynette says, pulling the covers off me.
“I’m going, I’m going.” I groan as I get out of bed and head to the shower to wake myself. Would've been nice to be woken up early so I can enjoy this warm water. I sigh and turn off the water. I reach for the towel to dry myself and dry a bit of my hair, then brush it out and throw it in a low ponytail with a fishtail braid at the end. I head out the bathroom and saw that Lynette put out my training clothes on the bed. I’m so happy Lynette is in my life. Without her, my childhood would've been so boring. She was my best friend, kind of like an older sister to me. Even though she's a maid, I truly and fully trust her. I didn’t have many friends growing up besides Josh and Xavier. I get dress and sprint towards the training grounds. It really sucked growing up with them, because they would leave for public school during the day and I had to stay in the castle and be taught by the royal teachers. After school, we would hang out and play games, but I wanted to be around other kids my age. I always felt trapped here ever since the Red Blood Kingdom attack. I wanted to be the free spirited kid, who felt like she could take on the world. When I asked to go to public school last year for my senior year, my parents almost lost their sh*t. First they were angry for even bringing up the idea, but I explained that it would be good to be among the people in the kingdom to get a feel for them, and see if there are any rising issues that the King and Queen might help with. They were convinced, but under one condition. I had to be in disguise to not distract other students or become a target. I hated the idea, because that means I have to get up extra early to have Lynette put my blonde wig on right. It was a huge pain, but it was worth it when I found my love for music and dance.
I joined the drama club because I saw that they had some songs that they wanted someone to sing and dance in their next play that was yesterday. When I signed up, I didn’t expect that they wanted someone to sing and dance in the middle of their intermissions. Meaning, not so many people will be paying attention, which I liked. They told me I could do my costume how I liked so I went with a beautiful black knee length maxi dress, I wore a black stylish masquerade mask to add a little mystery to myself, also to disguise my face. I decided to go with natural hair since it wont fall off in the middle of my routine like my wig would. Last thing I needed was to draw attention to myself. I was quite surprised to see so many people enjoy my performance. In that moment, I fell in love with performing.
“Good Morning Gamma James, Beta Titus.” I say, trying to catch my breath.
“Good morning princess, are you ready for training today?” Titus asked with a warm smile.
“Not really, but let’s get this over with. I have an assignment to due I forgot to do last night.” I say, groaning at the thought that I forgot about my homework. You can’t blame me, though. I was in complete bliss after my performance last night. I was in my own world and I didn’t want to leave.
“Not you too?! Josh was up all night working on his assignment that was due this morning. He turned it in about 45 minutes ago, too.” James says, shaking his head.
“Yeah, sounds like something Josh would do.” I say, laughing walking inside with both Titus and James behind them.
“Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Alpha Richard is currently out of town for an Alpha meeting but I want to introduce to you the Alpha’s daughter, Kaiya. She’ll be training with us from now on. Alright, lets begin. 5 miles.” Beta Titus said and we all took off. What is that smell? I look around to find the smell, but it was gone. It kinda smells like sandalwood and honey. Man, this is going to be a pain. I have been training since I was 10 with Beta Titus one on one. No one else in the kingdom knew I was training. I wanted to use this as a secret weapon, just in case they thought they can just man-handle me. The shock in their eyes that I actually fight back will be my victory, but for some weird reason, my father thought it would be a wonderful idea for me to train with the advanced warriors. I wonder if Titus told him about my training and how well I've been improving. Last month, I have been able to weld my Katana properly. I chose the Katana, because it felt right in my fighting style. Beta Titus approves of my choice in weapon, he actually loved the idea of the Queen being able to weld a katana. He says it speaks volumes of my character.
We take off running in the forest behind the training grounds. I have never ran these trails so I need to be cautious. I see Xavier and James take off first. Maybe that’s why they stand in the back of the huddle. Typical boys. I take off and end up catching up with the third guy that was running with Josh and Xavier. There’s that smell again. Is it coming from him? I wonder who that third guy is. He looks pretty young to be training here. He can’t be any older than I am. He stood at 6 ‘4, with broad shoulders, his hair is in a terrible man bun, but it looks so sexy on him. What is wrong with me, I don’t even know who this guy is. “C’mon Kaiya, get your head right.” I shake off the thought and when I did, I trip over a root that was sticking out from the ground. I land face first into the arms of this mystery guy. As soon as his skinned touched mine, I felt sparks flow throughout my body. I stay still enjoying the warm feeling I was getting while being in his arms. I realized his hands were on my waist and that’s when I snapped out of the little trance I was in.
“Are you okay?” he asks, searching if I was injuried before looking into my eyes. His eyes were a beautiful forest green. I could stare at these eyes all day.
“Umm. Can you let go of me?” I asks nervously, blushing.
“s**t, I'm sorry. I'm Zander Jones. I hope you're okay.” He says genuinely. I really didn’t want to leave his arms.
“Thank you for catching my fall. I’m usually never this clumsy. Must be the nerves getting to me.”I say cheekily. His eyes looked through me and to my soul. I felt his admiration for me through his lovely eyes, but the next thing I saw was confusion and concern.
“I-I better keep going, don't want to be last.” Zander says, turning his heel and taking off in the other direction away from me. Why do I miss him? Why do I want to run after him and kiss him? “Get it together, Kaiya. He’s Josh and Xavier’s friend. I’ll talk to him properly then.” I shake off the uneasy feelings I have and continue to run, but paced myself far behind Zander so he doesn't sense me. This was going to be one weird training session.
