As I pulled up to the countryside Hotel, I was relieved to finally be getting out of the car. I'd been driving for 3 hours straight and had gotten to the point that I was desperate for the bathroom. Driving the R8 didn't help with the stiff suspension exaggerating every bump in the road, but it did make for good fun on the twists and bends that had led up to the hotel after I left the motorway.
I peeled myself out of the seat taking a big stretch, feeling the slight ache from sitting too long in the same position. I'm normally very active, so 3 hours sat still was just a killer. I couldn't wait to get checked in and go for a run. The hotel was thankfully a shifter hotel, so was set in the middle of nowhere. It meant that I would be able to let my wolf out too, she was just as eager as I was to get out and about. We hadn't had much time to run together recently, but the extra few nights here would give us that time before I had to head back to the pack and face the music there. My parents were mad as hell after I came out, and I wasn't sure if that was because I finally admitted I was gay, or if it was the realisation they wouldn't be getting any Grandpups. Not to mention the other thing they had threatened.
The Hotel porter wandered over rousing me from my thoughts, taking my bag and passing the keys to the Valet who had been lustfully eyeing the car since I pulled up. I eyed the young man as he got into my car, scowling at him and letting him know with a single look that if there was so much as a stone chip on the car he'd have hell to pay. It didn't help my trust levels that he was a Siren and they are particularly reckless.
I followed behind the porter as he made small talk to the reception, where a pretty half Vampire sat waiting for me. She wasn't my type but I could appreciate her beautiful plush red lips against her pale skin.
'Good Morning, may I take a name for your reservation please?' she chirped as I reached the desk.
'Challenger. Sioux Challenger.' I replied simply, making it clear I wanted to be quick and get to my room so I could finally relax. 'Wonderful thank you Miss Challenger. We have you here for 3 nights. I can also see you booked a wolf room, which means you have a door straight to the outside so you can shift in room before taking a run. The perimeter of the hotel grounds extends all the way up to the border with the Midnight Sun pack, which is clearly marked at the boundary line. If you go over the boarder without permission you will get into trouble with their Alpha, so please ensure you stay within. If you follow Porter he will take you to your room. I hope you enjoy your stay!'
'Thank you, you too' I smiled at her as I followed porter to my room.
'Here you go Miss Challenger, if you need anything, just call down to reception and they will arrange it' he said opening my door and letting me walk though first. He delivered my bag before he exited the room and I took a deep breath taking in the beautiful room. It being a wolf room meant I had a swing door straight to outside, and the room was built with natural materials, heavily reinforced furniture and painted in natural colours. I loved the room, though doubted I'd spend much time in it. What with the business meeting in a days time.
Trying to forget about work before I had to focus, I link to my wolf Shadow, and before I even ask she tells me she's ready for a run. Smiling I strip off and shift. Shadow is a beautiful wolf, Blue Black fur with one blue and one green eye. It was unusual for your wolfs eyes to match your own, but since my eyes were my favourite part of myself, it made sense my Wolf had matching eyes. She was tall and slender, incredibly agile and fast. Faster than all the males in my pack except my father.
Letting Shadow take control, we bolt out of the door leaving the hotel behind heading out into the grounds at full pace. I streak past other shifters taking a more leisurely stroll, and a young wolf family playing with their pups. The little ones can't help but stare as I fly past and I smile to myself. Shadow keeps us running until we get to the border, I don't even know how far we have ran at this point, but I stop for a moment to take in the view. I can see Midnight Sun's city from even here. The city is huge but set with lots of green around it, lakes and nature. If I had to live in a city, I think I would choose there. Not that you could just move there, because the whole city was inhabited by the pack. The pack and its honorary members who werent werewolves. And you had to be invited or have an appointment with one of the firms set up there. Thankfully I did tomorrow, and I couldnt wait to finally get to visit. I wanted to see the juxtaposition of the older buildings mixed amongst the modern glass High rise buildings. It was like those neighbourhoods you see in old cities like London. New meeting old in a clash of styles that just worked.
Being the reigning Alpha of Goddess' Tears' daughter meant I had visited a ton of packs, but my father had never really gotten along with the last Alpha of Midnight Sun. There was a new Alpha now though. I think that's why the Alpha had approached me for this job. They didn't have any previous notion of a grudge or fued or whatever it was our two packs had going off before I was even born. I tried to ask my father about it a bunch of times, but he always found a reason to change the subject. Much like many of the other things he avoided talking about, or hid from me. I honestly think my dad will never announce me as the next Alpha.
Suddenly I heard a twig snap, and smelt the most wonderful smell around me. It was comforting and arousing at the same time, and all I could hear in my head was Shadow excitedly pleading with me to locate the source of the scent. Humouring her, I sniff the air, and realise the scent is coming from the Midnight Sun pack lands. Shadow starts sulking knowing we couldn't step over the border, and as I turn to head back, I am confronted with the scent stronger than ever. I follow along the edge of the boundary, looking up and seeing the most gorgeous snow white wolf ahead of me.
She was lean, athletic, tall for a female wolf and just exuded class. The sun seemed to make her fur gleam in the light, as if she was the source of the sun. I could feel she wasn't a normal Omega, but where she ranked I just couldn't tell. It was like she was masking her aura, and its only because of my Alpha blood sense of smell that I could even tell. As I stared at Her, she turned her head and looked me straight in the eyes. My body was on fire from that moment, it was if the rest of the world stopped and the only thing in it was me and her. Shadow was yipping and jumping around in our mind link, whilst I was trying to calm myself to approach. I had never met anyone that I was instantly intoxicated with. Was this what people were talking about when you meet the one? Your Soulmate? I could feel her gaze burning into my very core. Tentatively, I took a step forward, as did she. Slowly we approached each other until we were so close I could have just reached out and touched her if I was in my human form.
Suddenly she stood, turned and ran in the opposite direction, heading back into the packlands of Midnight Sun. I swore and watched her disappear into the distance before I turned and headed back to the hotel. I needed to finish my prep before tomorrow. Maybe when I'm there I can get permission for a tour on the off chance I get to see this mysterious she wolf who's image was dancing through my mind.
