As Emma's eyes locked onto Ryan's, she felt like she was staring into the face of a stranger. The man she thought she knew, the man she loved, was a lie. Ryan's arms dropped to his sides, his eyes filled with a deep sadness. "I'm sorry, Emma," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I never meant to hurt you." Emma's heart was racing, her mind spinning with questions. Why had Ryan lied to her? What did he want from her? As she stood there, frozen in shock, Emma felt a hand on her shoulder.
