Jessica was swinging on the porch swing in her ripped blue jeans and grey sweatshirt. Her grey eyes glistening with excitement. Mario sure was taking his sweet time. Jessica was twirling her strawberry blond hair while watching the parking lot like a hawk. She had missed Eliza. She hasn’t even been home in a little over two years. Jessica heard her tummy growl in anticipation of Eliza’s cooking. Her cheeks turning a slight red as she was ready for homemade meals. She was thick in all the right places. She felt like she towered over Eliza at 5’2. Mario always reminded her 5’ wasn’t really that tall. She never paid him much attention, but if he didn’t bring Eliza soon she was gonna give him more attention than he could ever want.
Suddenly the jet black Mercedes turned off the small town highway and into the parking lot. Jessica couldn’t wait anymore and bounced off the porch with a giggle and a small excited scream. “Mario could you drive any slower?!”
Rolling his eyes at Jessica he flipped her off and walked around the car to help Eliza out. “Madam…..” he chuckled. Waiting on Jessica to see the baby.
“Jess I am exhausted after my flight in. Can you help by taking these bags in?” Eliza smoothly asked.
“Yes! Of course! Kitchen? Or where do you want them?” Jessica happily replied.
“Down to my room please. I’ll be following right behind you.” Eliza was glad she was in her own thoughts and clearly didn’t see the baby bag. Chuckling she unbuckled the car seat and carried a still sleeping baby inside.
Eliza’s room was at the end of the hall. Hers was the only room that had both a upper and the lower level. She had a cozy queen side on the far wall. The bed had recently been changed and the bedspread was of a wolf howling at the full moon. It was an all black wolf with white paint on his paws. The curtains were opened wide letting the sun pour into the room. She struggled carrying Amy in the seat! That seat weighs three times as much as the baby. She thought. “OH MY GOOOOD!!!!!” Jessica whispered screamed.
Well here goes nothing! Gotta think quick and fast! “Surprise!” Breathed out Eliza.
“Surprise? Are you flipping kidding? You have a damn baby and I get a surprise? What the hell?! Eliza I just can’t even believe you! Not a call! Not a letter! Not anything?” Jessica choked out as her eyes filled with tears.
“Please let me explain everything ok?” Eliza sweetly spoke. “I know you have a million questions, but let me tell you some things first.”
“I know you don’t think your getting off easy!” Huffed Jessica. And at that moment the little babe started to cry.
“First I need to make her a bottle and get her changed.” Yawned Eliza. “Her needs come before you get to kick my ass!”
“Oh my goodness! She looks nothing like you! Her hair is the smoothest black I have ever seen! Crystal blue eyes! Her lips already looked painted up. She is the exact opposite as you! Well I think she has your nose? Maybe?” Gushed Jessica. “Can I take her out? I’ll change her! You make the bottle! Can I feed her? She needs a bath! My goodness she is completely perfect!”
“Yes take her out and she needs a bathing before she eats. It’s easier to bath her in the sink. She’s still a little lamb.” Eliza explained to Jessica.
“ Oh Eliza! Her porcelain complexion is so clean and clear. Where is her stuff for her bath? What outfit would you like her in after her bath. We’ll be back.” Jessica was already in love. Eliza had a baby girl! She just couldn’t believe it!
Eliza smirked to herself knowing Jess was now under Amy’s spell. Her complexion wasn’t perfect as she put a spell to cover up her messed up lip and nose. That’s one thing she needed to know about. The spell wouldn’t last long. Amy would grow faster than then spell could keep up. She turned it off. Jess wouldn’t notice. She was fixed on her crystal blue eyes. She got up and warmed her bottle and pulled out a pajama outfit. “Here ya go Jess! Clothes and bottle. I’m sure I won’t get her back for a bit. I’ll go start frying pork chops for dinner.”
“Ok.” Murmured Jessica. She was almost in a trance of those crystal blue eyes. Until she saw Amy’s lip, and nose! How did she miss this? Eliza has got some explaining to do! Jess gently rubbed lotion and powered Amy. She was taking her time enjoying the sweet baby smell. Until Amy had enough and was ready to eat! Jess quickly dressed her in the velvety blue pajamas and carried her into the kitchen. “What the hell happened to her lip?”
“Jess! She was born that way! It’s a clef lip, and palate. This is half the reason I’m home. I wanna see if I can get her into Dr. Johnson. You know he is the best in the country. I had to wait until she was healthy enough to travel, and had a few surgeries. I didn’t know if she was going to actually make it. So I didn’t want to get you and Stephanies’ hopes up. Speaking of.. Where is Steph?”
“I can’t believe you did all this alone. I could have came and at least given you some strength! Please tell me crystal blue eyes at least stuck around for you. Stephanie.. Well.. I don’t know honestly. She’s been gone for about 6 months. She hasn’t answered her phone and hasn’t called back. Wonder where that trait came from.”
“Me too! Great! Now I have Stephanie missing! I guess I’ll have to wait. Amy comes first. Who knows what random man she found for the moment.. Why does she even do this s**t! I’m probably gonna have to go bail her ass out sooner or later.”
“I was hoping for once it was a quick fling and she’d beat you back. But guess not. What else you making with those chops? I’m starving!”
“You’re always starving! Actually I’m doing smothered chops over rice. The rolls are rising and then I’ll pop them in the oven. Don’t forget she needs to burp!”
“Oh gosh! I’m so sorry!” Jess took the bottle and waited until a huge burp came out. “Manly burp for such a small little lady! Very unladylike indeed! She gets that from you!” Jess gave the bottle back to Amy and she greedily started drinking it again.
“Dinner be done in about 45! Amy will have ate and hopefully her furniture will be here soon enough.”
As if magic was used there was a loud knock at the front door. “Ms. Eliza! It’s Johnny Edwards! I got at lot of furniture here!” He shouted at the door.
“Why are ya yelling! We can hear fine. Couldn’t ya wait a minute for me to answer the door?” Boomed Mario. He obviously was not impressed by Johnny and couldn’t care less how much crap he had to deliver.
Johnny realized there was a small baby in a ladies arms. “I’m sorry ma’am.” He lowered his head in shame. His deep brown eyes matched his hair, he had strong shoulders, and looked to be a healthy weight. “I’ll try and keep the noise down. Let me tell Billy too. Mario? Where we putting all this?”
“Come on I will show you.” Mario rolled his eyes and lead him to Eliza’s room. He had moved all her clothes and her tables up to the second floor. Mario quickly told him, “Let me know if you need more room, and I can help move the bed.”
Billy Thompson strolled in stopping slightly to peek at the little girl greedily drinking her bottle. He was quite smitten with Jessica. He had caramel colored skin, deep blue eyes, dark blonde hair. He knew he was only a helper for Johnny. The pay was pretty good. “Howdy Miss Jessica, Ma’am.”
Jessica’s cheeks tinted a slight pink. “Hello Mr. Thompson. Thank you for helping my sister get everything for my niece.”
Eliza watched him sway down the hall towards her room. Soon they could hear drills and colorful worlds coming down the hall. Chuckling, “Dinner be done in 10 minutes y’all. Make sure you wash your hands!”
“We don’t wanna be no bother.” Johnny replied. “Billy and I are finishing up now. Everything is together. I wanna make sure the set up is good enough before we go.”
“You said no to free food? Suspicious.. Y’all gonna turn down my tip too?” Eliza replied her irritation growing.
“He can go! I’m starving!” Billy happily spoke up.
Jessica laughed. “Jeez! You starving Billy? I am too!” Dinner was served. Billy and Johnny didn’t leave before his belly and pocket were full.
