Chapter Seven Room 321, Royal Hotel, Los Angeles Ethan’s POV The moment the door shut behind us, the world went quiet. It was just her and me, and the sound of our breathing. She stood there, looking unsure, her fingers brushing against the side of her dress like she was debating whether to stay or run. Something about that made my chest tighten. I wasn’t supposed to care. I didn’t even know her name. Yet, every part of me was drawn to her like a magnet I couldn’t fight. I took a step closer. She didn’t move back. Her eyes flicked up, searching my face as if trying to understand why she wasn’t scared. I didn’t understand it either. I wasn’t the type to lose control, but with her, control wasn’t even an option. I reached out, my hand brushing her cheek. Her skin felt warm, too warm. The kind of warmth that made your heart race before your mind caught up. She trembled slightly, but she didn’t look away. When I kissed her, it wasn’t supposed to mean anything. Just a kiss. Just a moment. But the way she kissed me back, soft, uncertain, then deeper, it felt like something more. Something that pulled me under. The rest happened like a blur, hands, whispers, clothes lost somewhere on the floor. The air felt charged, every touch making me want to stop time. She wasn’t like anyone I’d ever been with. It wasn’t about lust anymore. It was about needing to be close, like she was the one thing that could quiet the noise in my head. When it was over, she lay beside me, silent. The city lights slipped through the curtains, brushing across her skin. And I just stared, trying to understand why it suddenly felt like I’d crossed into something I couldn’t undo. She turned slightly, her red hair spilling over the pillow, and for a moment, I almost asked her name. But I didn’t. I was scared knowing it would make this real. Because it wasn’t supposed to be. But as I watched her breathe, something deep inside me whispered, this is more than a one night stand. I closed my eyes, doubting the voice and telling myself it was just the night, just her scent, just the moment.
