Two Different Worlds

659 Words
Bangkok was a city of contradictions. Luxury towers stood beside crowded streets. Expensive cars stopped beside food carts. And somewhere between those two completely different worlds lived two women whose lives were never supposed to cross. Ivy Laurent's world was built on success. At twenty-six, she was already one of the youngest CEOs in the country. The Laurent Group was worth billions. Her face appeared in business magazines. Investors admired her. Competitors feared her. And the media couldn't stop talking about her. People saw a powerful woman who had everything . Money. Status. Influence. But they didn't see the long nights. They didn't see the endless meetings. And they definitely didn't see the loneliness that followed her home every evening. "Miss Laurent, your schedule for tomorrow is ready." Her assistant placed a tablet on her desk. She didn't even look up. "Leave it there." The office was silent except for the sound of her fingers moving across a keyboard. A new contract. Another meeting. Another business dinner. Another endless day. Her younger brother, William, suddenly walked into the office without knocking. "Do you ever leave this building?" She finally looked up. "I live somewhere else." "Do you?" He sat across from her. "You're working too much again." "I'm working the normal amount." "No. You're working the amount of three different people." A small smile appeared on her face. William was one of the few people who could make her laugh. "You should go outside." "I go outside." "Walking from your office to your car doesn't count." She rolled her eyes. Meanwhile, on the other side of Bangkok, life was completely different. Dragon Phoenix High wasn't an ordinary school. People called it a delinquent school. And honestly? They weren't completely wrong. Students argued. Students fought. Teachers lost their patience. And yet, despite the school's reputation, it was also full of talented people. And one of those people was Savvy. "PASS THE BALL!" "No!" "Why not?" "Because you're terrible!" The basketball court exploded with laughter. Savvy stole the ball, ran across the court, and scored. Her teammates immediately started complaining. "You're showing off again." "I'm simply demonstrating my talent." "No. You're definitely showing off." She laughed. Basketball was her entire world. She loved the game. She loved the competition. And she loved proving people wrong. Unlike most people, she didn't care about wealth. She didn't care about expensive clothes. And she definitely didn't care about famous CEOs. After practice, she walked home with her younger brother. Est was carrying several art supplies while trying to protect a half-finished painting. "You know normal people use backpacks, right?" He looked offended. "Artists don't follow rules." "You're carrying paint in one hand and a sandwich in the other." "Exactly." She started laughing. Unlike his energetic older sister, Est preferred quiet places. He loved art. He loved painting. And he loved teasing Savvy every chance he got. "You should think about your future." "I already have." "Basketball?" "Obviously." He smiled. "You know, one day you're going to fall in love." She immediately stopped walking. "No, I'm not." "Definitely." "Absolutely not." He laughed. She shook her head. Love? No, thank you. Relationships were complicated. And she didn't have time for complicated things. At that exact moment, across the city, Ivy was leaving another exhausting business meeting. Her assistant walked beside her. "You have a charity event tomorrow evening." "Cancel it." "You've already canceled two events this month." "Then make it three." He laughed. Sometimes, he wondered if she even knew how to relax. Neither Ivy nor Savvy realized that their lives were moving toward the same destination. One was a billionaire CEO. The other was a basketball player from a delinquent school. Two completely different worlds. Two completely different lives. And in less than twenty-four hours, everything was about to change. Because tomorrow night... The Grand Lotus Hotel would bring them together. And neither of them would ever be the same again. End of Chapter 1.
