  The door slammed. The sound cracked through the air like a gunshot.   Carmen's heels hit the stone path hard. Fast. Each step punching into the ground like she wanted to shatter it.   Sienna stood in the kitchen doorway. Her body wouldn't move. Her legs felt wrong, like they belonged to someone else. Everything inside her had gone cold the second Carmen's eyes found hers. That look. Pure hatred mixed with something worse. Betrayal so deep it had no bottom.   Carmen didn't look back. Her shoulders were stiff, her whole body shaking as she walked.
