  The office was massive. Floor-to-ceiling windows. Modern furniture. Everything expensive. Everything perfect.   But it felt empty.   Landon stood by the glass. Looking out at the city below. Morning light cutting through clouds.   He still wore yesterday's clothes. Vest. White shirt. Sleeves rolled up. Tie somewhere on the floor.   He hadn't slept. Couldn't.   In his hand, a tablet. Like reading it more would make it less real.   It didn't work.   His reflection appeared in the glass. A stranger. Tired eyes. Hard jaw. Someone he didn't recognize anymore.   He whispered.
