We stared at each other for a minute or so, then I jumped up. I grabbed the blanket and hopped over to her to wrap it around her. I sat next to her in front of the fire. Lukas asked what her name was. “Millie, what’s yours?” She answered. “Mine’s Maxine but you can call me Max and this is my brother Lukas.” I said looking at him. He gave Millie a small smile then asked, “Where have you come from.” Millie said she had runaway from her abusive parents in Sampaloc but she had no clue what to do next
We all sat in silence for awhile before Lukas said, “You should come with us, we’re going to San Juan City.” “Oh yes! I would love to come wth you!” Millie squealed with joy. “We’ll, we leave tomorrow morning so i get a good night sleep.” Lukas instructed us.
None of us got more than an hour sleep. We were all too anxious. The next day, we got up before the sun and continued on our journey to San Juan City. After a day of walking we got to a little town that we didn’t know the name of. We found a quiet place in an alleyway to rest and this time none of us had trouble sleeping.
