Anna needed to think fast to escape whatever danger was coming her way. She is not that strong to save herself, and she needs to be alive to take revenge on her step-sister and Rustin, and she also has to return to her best friend Emma.
Rotten flesh and blood surrounded her, making her gag inwardly. She knew to whom the scent belongs, as they were warned from childhood to stay away from the wolves who reek of this scent.
" Rosy! We are surrounded by rogues! How will we escape them?" Anna screamed at her wolf in her head, as she couldn't let them see her panic and let them have the chance to see her vulnerable and attack her.
"Just stay calm and play dead. They will leave you alone."
Wow! Is she thinking it's time to be sarcastic? Anna thought.
"It's not time for your sarcasm, Rosy! We are in danger! I don't know how to fight, and I don't know how many of them are here." Anna can feel her heart beating wildly in her chest and the sweat forming on her forehead and all over her body.
They could smell her fear from a yard, and she didn't have any choice but to run rather than get killed by them.
She slowly opened her eyes and pretended not to hear anything as she took her backpack and slowly walked towards the opposite direction she was supposed to take, as the stench of rotten flesh and blood was coming from that direction.
Anna could hear the crunch of the leaves behind her, and with the way the sound increased, she knew she was going to die. She started running in her human form as she didn't have time to shift.
She ran as fast as she could, but it was impossible as she had already used up her energy running away from her pack.
Twigs and tree branches ripped her while she was running, but she doesn't care about them now as she needs to survive.
Anna came to a screeching halt when there was a big block of tree trunk in her way. It was impossible to jump through it in her human form, and she didn't have much time to shift as she will be vulnerable in the shifting and the rogues will jump on the opportunity and rip through her.
She could hear the growls behind her, and she slowly turned towards the sounds to see four to five rogues standing there snarling at her and ready to attack her.
One of the brown wolves, who seems to be their leader, snarled loudly, making Anna cower in fear. She closed her ears to block out the sound, and in her vulnerability, the rogue jumped on her, ready to rip her throat, but suddenly a wolf came out of nowhere and jumped on the rogue, who tried to attack Anna, and threw it away from Anna.
The new wolf started fighting with the rogues, and in no time, the wolf ripped the rogues throats, saving Anna from them.
Anna was on the ground, still in shock and fear from the attack, wondering how she would have died if the wolf hadn't jumped on time and fought the rogues.
She couldn't believe how stupid she had been for never learning how to fight, and she had stupidly stood there awaiting her death.
"Are you alright?" A feminine voice asked, pulling from her shock and shame.
" Y…yes! Thank you." Anna's eyes met the woman's gray ones, which filled her with concern for her.
I am fine, and thank you for saving me." The woman gave her hand to pull Anna from the ground, as she was bleeding from the way she ran without caring about the branches digging into her arms and thighs.
"No worries! What's your name? I am Monica, by the way." She stood there expectantly, waiting for Anna to answer.
"I am Anna. I don't know how to thank you, Monica. If it wasn't for you, then I'd be dead by now." Anna shuddered, thinking about how the large rogue jumped in the air to get her.
"Those bastards are everywhere to cause trouble, and I hope you are really alright."
She nodded at Monica, dusting off the leaves and dirt from her clothes.
"Yes, thank you! I will be going now." She gave a little wave and turned around to leave.
"Which pack are you from?" Monica called out, stopping Anna from walking away. She turned around to face her, and Anna didn't want to tell her pack's name, as she didn't want any trouble if her evil step-sister or Rustin wanted to find her to kill her or something.
"Um, I'm sorry, but I don't want to disclose my pack's name, and I left my pack, so I don't really belong to a pack now." A frown made its way onto Monica's forehead, but she nodded her head in understanding.
" Alright! I belong to the Red Moon pack, and if you want, I can take you to my Alpha so you can stay there for some time."
Tears stood brimming in Anna's eyes at Monica's offer and the way she saved her without thinking about her own life.
No one had ever done anything for me, and this stranger has already saved her from the rogues and is now offering her to stay with their pack.
"I would love to come." Anna choked out the words despite the sob that threatened to break free from her.
In less than twenty-four hours, she had been rejected, betrayed, attacked, and saved by a stranger. She didn't know what else lies in her fate, but one thing she was sure of is that she is going to be a strong she-wolf.
“We need to hurry, I can sense more Rogue approaching.” Monica cut in.
