Chapter 2

Slowly, Anna wiped her tears, anger boiling within her as she rose from the ground and made her way towards the heartbreaking scene unfolding before her. Rustin and Alora were oblivious to her presence as they were so engrossed in the dance. Anna swallowed the lump in her throat before reaching out and holding Rustin's arm, which was on Alora's waist. She was desperately seeking an answer in his eyes, but instead of the warmth she once knew, she was met with a cold glare. "What is happening here?" Anna mustered the strength to ask, her voice trembling with a mix of confusion and hurt as she pointed at Alora, who scoffed. Rustin sneered, his words cutting through the air like a blade. "You're not my mate. What makes you think I would ever choose a low omega like you?" He said it, his voice dripping with hatred. The ground beneath Anna shattered, the pain of betrayal weighing heavily on her fragile heart. Tears welled up once more, but she refused to let them fall. She mustered the remaining courage left in her, her voice quivering as she spoke. "Rustin, if I have offended you, I am sorry. But this is going too far," she pleaded, her voice filled with desperation. "Remember the love we shared. You said you loved me and that you would protect me. Where are those promises now?" Tears threatened to spill from her eyes, and her grip on his arm tightened. Rustin's cold demeanor remained unyielding, his words delivering the fatal blow to Anna's wounded soul, and he tore his arm away from her grasp. "I can never be mated to a low omega like you," he declared, his words carrying a finality that echoed through her shattered heart. Anna stumbled backwards, disbelief gripped her as Rustin's hurtful words echoed in her ears. She couldn't comprehend how things happened so quickly. Tears streamed down her face, blurring her vision as each droplet marked a shattered piece of her heart. Though she was surrounded by a bustling crowd who were so engrossed in the rhythm of the music, It felt as if she were invisible and lost in a sea of people who were oblivious to her pain. Suddenly, Emma burst into the hall, her eyes scanning the hall until they landed on Anna, who was crumpled on the floor. Concern etched deeply on her face as she hurried to her best friend's side. "What happened?" She asked, her voice filled with worry. Anna couldn't find her tongue, and it felt like it was tied. Instead, she lifted her head, and her tear-filled gaze fixed on the sight before her. Rustin was holding Alora's waist possessively, their bodies entwined in an intimate dance. Emma followed the direction of Anna's gaze, which fell on Rustin and Alora, and her breath got caught up in her throat. The scene before her was heartbreaking, and she couldn't help but feel pity for her friend. As the seconds ticked by, fresh tears left Anna's cheeks, each a testament to her pain. And to make matters worse, Alora smirked devilishly, and she extended her middle finger, a sign of ' f**k you loser'. Emma couldn't bear to watch her best friend endure such torment, so she positioned herself in front of Anna, shielding her from the heartbreaking scene. Gently, Emma helped Anna to her feet, making sure Anna's gaze never met the couples who were locked in the dance. She guided Anna out of the hall, offering support and solace for her friend. Despite her desire to shield Anna completely, Anna couldn't help but steal glances at the couples, her heartache refusing to let go completely. Getting outside the hall, Emma turned Anna around, their eyes meeting. Emma held Anna's shoulders, and without a word, she enveloped Anna in a warm hug, and she whispered, "We'll get through this together, Anna. Just get yourself together". Anna stood still, tears leaving her eyes. "What have I done to deserve this, huh? Is it a crime to be an omega? Don't we get to live a good life like other werewolves do?" She asked in between tears and hiccups. "You will be fine, trust me," Emma muttered, patting her hair slowly. A few minutes later, Anna was already calm, but the hiccups refused to stop. Emma broke the hug and held Anna's shoulder. "You need to rest, Anna," Emma said, and Anna shook her head. "I am living the pack tonight," she said with confidence, and Emma's eyes widened. " What?" "I can't watch that heartbreaking scene, Emma. Seeing them both every day will make me more heartbroken. So leaving the pack is the best option for me." "Can you hear yourself right now?" Emma asked "Okay, let's say you don't want to stay here anymore. Where on Earth will you go? Do you want to die as a rogue because no pack will accept an outsider? Think Anna," Emma said, sounding more like she was pleading with her best friend. She knows the pain her friend is passing through, but leaving the pack isn't settling well with her. "I will be fine, I promise, but as for now, I can't stay here anymore. I can't continue to suffer, not when my stepsister is the beta's mate." "Anna, let's find another way; at least we will think it through tonight and find a solution, so please don't leave." Emma pleaded, tightening her grip on Anna's shoulder. "I have made up my mind, Emma; all I need from you is your support. You need to respect my decision, okay?" Anna said and slowly removed Emma's grip on her shoulder. "I promise to come see you when I come for my revenge." "That's when you're alive." Emma snickered, and Anna smiled sadly. "I need to survive, so I will do everything and anything within my power to survive and come back for my revenge. So just wait and watch me come back."
