Chapter5

I watched in horror as Enzo's punishment unfolded before my eyes. Lycril's cries for mercy fell on deaf ears as Beta Xavier remained unmoved, his expression stern and unyielding. My father, on the other hand, stood still, his face a mask of indifference. Lycril's desperation was palpable as she begged Xavier to spare Enzo. She even went as far as falling at his feet, something I never thought I'd see. "Richard!!! Do something. Beg him, please…" she begged, pulling my father towards Xavier. But my father remained unmoved, his expression unreadable. I couldn't bear to watch Enzo's punishment anymore. I fell to my face, begging Xavier to stop. "Please Beta Xavier. Please let him go. I beg you." I pleaded, my voice shaking with emotion. But Xavier was unmoved. "Not until my order has been taken out," he said, his voice firm and unyielding. Lycril's anger turned towards me, and she hurled insults as she walked towards me. But Xavier's men intervened just in time, taking her away alongside Enzo. My father's words caught me off guard. "Sorry for what happened Beta Xavier, but believe me when I say she's untouched. My stepson hasn't laid a finger on her." I felt a surge of anger and betrayal at his words. Was he really selling me off like a piece of property? "Freya darling," he said, turning towards me. I was shocked to hear him use such an endearing term. What happened to being called a bastard? Or an old dirty hag? Or the bad, unwanted child? "I'll miss you. And be a good girl." I could see the smirk on his face, and I knew he meant none of those words. Xavier turned towards me, his brown eyes boring into my soul. "Have you packed everything? We're leaving now." I nodded, my heart heavy with fear and uncertainty. I didn't want to go with him, to leave behind the only home I had ever known. But I had no choice. As I stood outside, glancing at the house I grew up in, I wondered how different my life would have been if my mother were still alive. Being sold by my own father was a cruel fate, one that I never thought I'd endure. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what lay ahead. If I ever survive this, then I can survive anything else, I told myself as I sat beside Xavier in the luxurious car waiting to take me to my final destination – my new home. ……………… It's been two weeks since I arrived at the NorthRidge pack, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the sudden change in my life. Beta Xavier had told me that the Alpha would be back after two weeks, and that day had finally arrived. I was nervous, my mind racing with thoughts of what the Alpha wanted from me. As I sat in the room, waiting for the Alpha's arrival, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread creeping up on me. I had heard so many rumors about the Alpha, about how cruel and ruthless he was. I wondered if he would be as evil as everyone said he was. The sound of footsteps approaching made my heart skip a beat. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. Suddenly, the heavy door creaked open, and a few maids who had been tending to me for the past few days sauntered in, followed by Beta Xavier. I clenched my hands, waiting for the most dreadful moment of my life. And then, a tall figure entered my dimly lit room. Even though the light was barely enough to get a good glimpse of him, I could tell that he was muscular, with a chiseled jawline that seemed almost perfect. He moved with a swift, royal gait, exuding power and authority that seemed to intimidate everyone in the room. I gazed at everyone, and they all stood looking as if they were barely breathing. Who is this man? I wondered, my heart pounding hard against my ribs. He took three steps and finally came to a halt in front of me, his hazel eyes piercing deep into my soul as if searching for something within. I had never seen anyone with hazel eyes before, and how beautiful they looked on him. Is he really the evil alpha everyone talks about? This man right here is near perfect! A wonderful work of art! I could hear my heart beating fast against my ribs, and for a second, I was so captivated by his looks that I had forgotten my pains. I had to force myself back to reality when he stood beside me, leaning forward with an icy look on his face. Xavier nodded, his head still bent out of respect. "She's the Omega, Alpha Logan." Logan? So that's his name? The alluring Alpha Logan c****d his head and gave me a quick stare before resting his gaze on Beta Xavier with a look that signified he was expecting more words from him. "She has been checked by the pack's nurse, Alpha. She will be fine in a week, this she had assured us." Without saying a word, he nodded, his gaze back on my body, lingering on my face for a while. He looked charming yet dangerous, and he reeked of an authority that one wouldn't dare challenge.
