Fraya's Point of view I stood there, my body aching from the beating I had just endured. My stepmother, Lycril, sneered at me, her voice dripping with venom. "Look how pathetic you look, Freya. Next time, don't ever eavesdrop on adults." I leaned against the wall, panting heavily, trying to process the pain and humiliation I had just suffered. As I caught my breath, I heard Lycril mention something about dressing my wound and someone named Xavier coming to pick me up. I was confused - who was Xavier, and why was he coming for me? My father's grip on my chin tightened, his fingers digging into my skin until it bled. "You'll be such a good girl when you finally arrive at the NorthRidge pack…." I felt a surge of fear at the mention of the NorthRidge pack. What did they want with me? "NorthRidge pack?" I stammered, trying to find the courage to ask my father. "What will I be doing there, father?" Lycril's shrill voice cut through the air, making me wince. "Your father and I are planning something huge for you, Freya. And I bet you'll love it. I mean, you have no choice." My heart was racing with fear as I waited for more details. My father's voice was cold and detached as he spoke. "You're going to the Northridge pack in the next few hours, Freya. You're going to serve the alpha, and he has paid quite an amount already…." I felt like I had been punched in the gut. Serve the alpha? What did that even mean? I looked around the room, and everyone seemed to be enjoying my distress. My father, Lycril, and even my step-siblings, Enzo and Amanda, all had smirks on their faces. I felt a wave of anger and betrayal wash over me. How could they do this to me? Didn't they care about me at all? I turned to Lycril, my voice shaking with emotion. "You agreed to this too? For me to go to the NorthRidge pack and serve the alpha?" I felt a lump form in my throat as I spoke. My heart was heavy with pain and hurt. Lycril's grin was triumphant as she replied, "You should be glad I accepted that you work for him, Freya." My father's voice was cold and unfeeling as he added, "Many girls would have killed to have this opportunity." I felt a surge of anger at his words. Did he really think I wanted to be sent away to serve some alpha? Did he really think I was that desperate? As I stood there, trying to process everything that was happening, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. The NorthRidge pack was notorious for its ruthless alpha, a man with a reputation for being merciless and cruel. What would he want with me? And what did my father and Lycril have planned for me? I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that I was completely at their mercy. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My father, the man who was supposed to protect and care for me, was sending me away to serve the alpha of the NorthRidge pack. The same alpha who was rumored to be a ruthless and merciless leader, known for his brutal fighting skills and unforgiving spirit. I felt a wave of fear wash over me as I thought about what lay ahead. I had heard stories about the alpha's cruelty, about how he would kill his enemies and rivals without hesitation. And now, my father was sending me to serve him? It was a death sentence. I fell to my knees, begging my father to reconsider. "Please, father, I beg you. Don't send me to the NorthRidge pack. I'll do anything, just please don't make me go." But my father was unmoved. He just stood there, his face cold and unfeeling, as I pleaded with him. Lycril, my stepmother, just stood there, a sly smile spreading across her face. "Begging won't solve anything, Freya. The deed is done already. Just get ready to leave in a few hours." She dismissed me, her voice firm and condescending. I felt a surge of anger and hurt. How could they do this to me? Didn't they care about me at all? I looked up at Lycril, my eyes filled with tears. "Mother, please say something else. Don't do this to me..." But she just turned away, her expression unyielding. My father's voice was cold and menacing as he spoke. "If you beg me one more time, I'll whip you till you can barely talk." He screamed at me, his face twisted in anger. I cowered, cradling my head in my arms as he approached me, the whip still clutched in his hand. I felt like my life was flashing before my eyes. I was trapped, with no way out. My father's cruelty and Lycril's heartlessness had finally caught up with me. I was nothing more than a pawn in their game of power and manipulation. As I made my way to the kitchen, my body aching from the beating I had received, I couldn't help but think of my mother. She had always been my protector, my safe haven. But she was gone now, and I was left to face the cruelty of my father and stepmother alone. I wiped away my tears, trying to compose myself. But it was hard to shake off the feeling of despair that had settled in my heart. I was trapped, with no way out. And I knew that my life would never be the same again.
